Eclipse travel

Anyone travel a distance this weekend to see the total eclipse?
My son and I drove from NJ to Tennessee and are having a blast. And the weather report tomorrow is really good. (I can't imagine having done this to get rained out. That would have sucked so bad.)

It is supposed to be best here at 1pm with 90% coverage, also supposed to be cloudy.:(

According to Google, I won't have to drive far since I live in Ohio.

The eclipse will be 100% where I live ( outside STL). The trajectory goes directly over my house. With that being said, I'll be at work but hope to step outside with my fancy glasses

I am in the path of 100% coverage. Motels in the area are almost all full. I just checked hotels.com. The only motel that shows a vacancy is Holiday Inn Express at $999 per night. Eclipse glasses have been sold out at most places for a week or more. My local Chamber of Commerce had sponsored a car show today and handed out the glasses. There were 40 to 50 people in line for the glasses before the show started. I'm not sure how many pair they had but it didn't take long before they ran out.

It's about 70% here in L.A. I think, but I'm too busy working so I created an eclipse in photoshop and saved my eyesight.

Heard a guy on the radio speculating about how many people are risking their eyesight today with cheap glasses bought at a convenience store or on the Internet

2:42 p.m. today from the top of my building, AMTRAK HQ, six blocks north of the Capital in Washington, D.C. Helped a co-worker take this with her phone. Me holding the glasses at an acute angle over her phone lens. This was totality for our area, roughly 82.4%, just as clouds passed in front of it which probably helped.

We saw the full eclipse today in TN. First time I ever saw one. It is a very very intense, almost frighteningly odd experience. Very disconcerting to see it go dark so quickly. It was unlike anything I have ever experienced and I felt a very deep, disconcerting reaction to it. (In a normal sunset, it stays bring for a while.). The sudden darkness and temperature drop was bizarre. All of a sudden you are looking at stars. We were near woods and all the crickets came out when the darkness settled in. And the ring around the moon from the suns corona was amazing to look at. A truly amazing probably once in a life experience.

I rode my bike about 2 miles to a park near my house and picked up 12 additional seconds of totality. Where I live in SC, locals were told to expect horrendous traffic, but that never materialized. Otherwise, I would have driven about 15 miles to another park for another 30 seconds of totality.
