Cards we WONT see come up for auction in 2010

1 Attachment(s)
We all have cards we've been searching for that just never seem to come up for auction. They may be commons in popular sets...or one of a kinders buried in collections. For me...I'll be surprised if I see an E97 Nichols Phil variation in 2010. What other cards do you DOUBT we'll see in 2010?

T206.org 12-20-2009 03:10 PM

T206 Doyle NY Natl.

Jim- did you notice the two typos in the first two sentences?

bcbgcbrcb 12-20-2009 04:35 PM

How about some top quality Negro League collectibles? Seems like just about everything has dried up over the past couple of years.

1) I might have used some commas in the first sentence (although "ultra high rare type cards" doesn't flow very smoothly no matter what you do to it.)

2) I believe "maybe" should be "may be."

3) There should be a period at the end of that sentence.

Truth be told, I have become enured to most mistakes in this type of informal posting.

barrysloate 12-20-2009 05:08 PM

Shouldn't it be "ultra high grade rare cards?" He left out the word "grade."

And you are correct about "may be"...make that three typos.

botn 12-20-2009 05:19 PM

With as many cards as he bought just the other day, while he was closing 3 substantial business deals, he probably does not need anything from that list.

Barry,

"Ultra High" type cards are a real niche market. As a what do you call it, leftover hippie, you should be aware of that.

Peter,

I'm sorry it wasn't a couple years back. I auctioned a Nichols and a Hinchman from the E97s.

barrysloate 12-20-2009 06:21 PM

Good point Jeff.:)

chaddurbin 12-20-2009 06:35 PM

how did this turn into another bruce bashing thread? can you guys put spoilers in the OP for me?

as for peter's q...i've seen a handful of the nichols up for sale the past 4-5 years. i'd love to see a w600 cobb up for auction myself, that'd be neat! they are confirmed catalogued right? i'm sure scott b. has at least a couple

teetwoohsix 12-20-2009 06:41 PM

The list...........

I heard a rumor that the person holding most of the cards on that list is none other than Archive himself. All he needs is a certain one of a kind Boston Garter strip card to complete his collection..................:D

You're correct quan, and I admit my warped sense of humor started it. I was trying to make the joke that we will NOT see at auction, any of the cards Bruce has been plastering the BST listings with. I suspect that some of them may not exist in the condition he desires, but I admit I've never thoroughly checked to be sure.

It was a poor attempt at humor and I apologize for that. (By the way, this humor was in no way intended to disrespect Bruce, or his want list. I just don't think we'll see a lot of these cards come to auction this year.)

The grammar/typo thing... that's all Barry. :)

Rob D. 12-20-2009 07:54 PM

Yeah, Jim, I wish you'd lighten up.

Leon 12-20-2009 08:14 PM

many cards

I like the Gilmartin Printing Weaver.....That would be a neat card. Also, it would be neat to see another 1919? White Sox team set come out (again).

As for the Doyle, there will be another in auction soon, I am told.

A few more T207 Red Cross Weavers would be cool. Maybe the T231 Bigbee too, as I would love to see it.

is Jim Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?

Jim

We hear that you are scheduled for an appearance on the TV
show "Are you smarter than a 5th grader.

No doubt, you act like one, so you should win a great deal
of money. Perhaps, then you will able to afford to buy
some ultra high grade rare baseball cards.

Until then enjoy your "beaters". and remember it is we
who are having the last laugh.

Wow, Bruce. I'm really hurt. Deeply. No one has ever called my collection "beaters" before. I'm just crushed. How will I ever go on tomorrow?

When did you start channeling Crandall?

By the way, as I said, I truly meant no disrespect toward you with my post. I think your want list is composed of items we are not likely to see come for auction this year.

Epps 12-20-2009 09:05 PM

Another 1917 Davis Printing Set would be pretty amazing Leon. I too hope another Weaver will come up one day.

DavidW 12-20-2009 09:27 PM

I've never seen a n172 Anson in uniform in a recent auction. Also how about a 4 base hits Kelly...

ethicsprof 12-20-2009 10:39 PM

won't

drum and hindu packs

best,

terjung 12-20-2009 11:07 PM

I'll throw one out there. I'm guessing we won't see any "Just So" cards come up for auction.

baseballart 12-20-2009 11:40 PM

I suspect we won't be seeing this card coming up for auction (or at least a real T4 of Ten)

barrysloate 12-21-2009 04:45 AM

The two known Four Base Hits Kelly and the three known (in private hands) N172 Ansons in Uniform are all likely to stay put for the foreseeable future.

T206Collector 12-21-2009 06:46 AM

Although there are plenty out there...

...I would be (pleasantly) surprised to see an autographed caramel or tobacco card of Ty Cobb come up for auction in 2010.

glynparson 12-21-2009 06:52 AM

Peter

I may be able to help. i was recently offered that card (E97 Nichols Phil.). I will see if the seller still has it available and I will let you know.:)

bcbgcbrcb 12-21-2009 07:02 AM

Brian:

I believe that the recently discovered Just So - Buck Ewing will be in the upcoming REA Auction.

ullmandds 12-21-2009 11:27 AM

I don't believe we'll be seeing one of these at auction in 2010.

Fred 12-21-2009 12:34 PM

There's one Zeenut I want that I'm pretty sure I wont see:

Fatty Arbuckle

There are lots of OJs I wouldn't mind having that I probably wont see either.

tbob 12-21-2009 03:07 PM

1911 Zeenut Bohen won't be showing its face for sale for the 25th consecutive year.
I wish someone would stumble across a large collection of D311s and put them up for sale, one by one, that's my Christmas wish :-)

Epps 12-21-2009 06:34 PM

Also a 1915 Zeenut McMullin
