Identification help

3 Attachment(s)
Hi,

Can anyone identify either of these:

1) Bill Jurges - almost as big in size as the 1934 buttermilks, made on paper more like a magazine paper (but a bit thicker than that). Has a blank back.

2) The Cubs page and the Hartnett (bigger example of one photo on page) - these almost look like photos (but are obviously signed so they're not photos). Backs are blank (but could have been peeled off). These don't feel like they came from a magazine, and are almost more like a photo feel than a card feel.

Anyone know antything about either of these?

Cheers,
Patrick

What size is the Jurges? It could be a 1933 Canadian Butterfinger.

9 1/2" x 6"

Hi,

Yes, I meant butterfingers, not buttermilk!

The coloring seems a bit different than the Butterfingers - doesn't coe across well in my photo, but it's more a brownish color than black like the butterfingers.

Also definitely not paper like the butterfingers, and not as thick a cardboard stock as the butterfinger premiums.

And it's 9 1/2" x a smidge over 6".

Cheers,
Patrick

Maybe it's not a Canadian Butterfinger. They measure 6 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. Here is an example of a 1933 Canadian Butterfinger.

That Bill Jurges "card" is from the 1931 Chicago Cubs Picture Pack .. in the 2011 Standard Catalog you can find the set on page 76.

The Jurges is from the 1931 Chicago Cubs Team Issue, here is the listing from the 2011 Beckett-

Thanks!

Thanks Scott and Fred! That definitely looks like it. Nevr had one of these for sure!

Anyone have any ideas on the others?

I believe the other Cubs cards may have been hand cut from the 1930 Blue Ribbon Malt Poster .. i never held an original poster in hand, so not sure what kind of stock they were originally printed on but the images match .. if you Google image "Cubs Blue Ribbon Malt" you can see the whole poster intact.

You're right

Thanks again Fred! You're absolutely correct. I actually have two more pages of these that I didn't show and they also match up.

Never would have figured these out.

Thanks!
Patrick
