Cry me the Blues- T205?

I saw this last night and got all excited thinking it was a color freak and I could add to the T205 scrap I will be picking up tomorrow. Alas, so no one else gets the wrong idea, it's not. It is the sellers scanner (who is very nice and polite, btw). He must have sent me 5 scans upon request, and no, I don't know who he is otherwise. Moral of this story- it's not blue :(.

maybe someone should tell him to lower the price as there are are a bunch of others raw ones asking 1/4 the price and Graded ones (sgc3.5, and 2) asking 1/2 price.

Must have fixed the pics. Looks ok now.

Must be my cache as I am still singing (seeing) the blues?

Is there something I am missing as to why he would have this card at a thousand dollars? (it's not blue either :))

Seller is a member here and just posted them in the b/s/t...he can ask whatever he wants but they are priced silly high in my opinion...heck, if anybody wants those same cards in similar condition for half his price I will gladly part with mine. :)

He's pointing to the crossed "T" in Otis as being a variation worth the money.

lol last week i bought a real Nice - VG - crossed T version payed 23.05 - if anyone wants to pay $999.00 for it, um or even half, $500, hmmm or even 1/4 $250, just PM me :D ROFL

On a more serious note - where does he get this "Book Value in NM condition with a common back is $1,325.00" from???

Beckett lists the card as $250, any clue where hes getting his values at?

I just paid a record high amount for a piece of scrap T205, so I enthusiastically say folks can ask what they want to. I was just curious if there was something I was missing, like it being a short print, error etc....?

He probably got it from the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards. My 2011 edition has the same card valued at $1320 (page 472) in NM condition.

yesh, I would suggest to use a beckett guide (or something more actuall)

My records shows that I payed $40 for a Crandell (same version) graded SGC 40. And I over payed a little more than I would have liked.

Leon I don't think you over paid a bit for the McGraw scrap. T205 scrap and errors are extremely scarce and hard to come by. I sold a ghost overprint for just over $350 this summer. As the set gets more popular the scraps, miscuts, and errors will increase drastically instead of trickle up. Just some FYI on the Crandall's. The T not crossed is the rarer of the 2 and should command a hefty premium compared to the T crossed variation.

hmmmm - are u sure? RE: Crandall T not crossed, in all the price guides I see that the T crossed is worth more, so I assumed the T crossed is more rare.

Andrew is correct. The Crandall "t" not crossed is indeed tougher than the "t" crossed variation. It's definitely a sleeper within the T205 set.

Books are reference guidelines and not price guides. Prices are set by the market and any collector will tell you to follow the cards you are buying before buying them. Sometimes you find patterns and can buy cheap or find that certain cards rarely come up and when they show you need to buy or be patient and wait (possibly paying more)

I will be posting more about SP's and Variations later
