I always thought a pitcher intentionally hitting a batter because someone hit a homer was extremely childish. Like the spoiled kid throwing a temper tantrum for not getting their way.

Different era. Old school baseball was about just playing the game and not showboating and showing up your opponent.

Perhaps the younger crowd loves it, but a lot of people that grew up in a different era may not care for it.

I can still remember a picture of Juan Soto (last season) doing a dance at second base after he hit a double. The second baseman is looking at him like "what are you celebrating about, your team's down 7-1". To me, that picture said it all.

I guess the showboating and "look what I did" attitude is the way things are today and is a reflection of our society in these more modern times.

Two different value systems - players that "act like they've been there before" (referring to the end zone after a player scores a touchdown) or those that just like to dance and celebrate every little thing.

It’s a grumpy old man at the bar comment to me. Barry wore more armor to the plate than a knight. The brush backs of the sixties is not an issue if you just stand there over the plate and let balls bounce off your huge full arm coverage.

I dislike Barry as much as the rest of the world but it’s simply not a logical argument unless you pull him back in time and he would have just modified like the rest.

Celebrating is now embraced as the kids think it’s great. As much as I dislike it, Barry was just at the forefront of what is in every game now.

Sounds like he had an issue with his earring too.

Sounds like the comment of an old man who the world has passed by.

Don't like a guy expressing emotion for homering? Throw better pitches. Problem solved.
