I was going thru some of my cards and came across this Oldring card with his name printed at the bottom of the card, and at the top - which would seem to indicate that there were several (at least 2) of him on the page.<br /><br />Can someone educate me as to the printing process please?<br /><br /><img src="http://www.mlbvintage.com/pics/uploads/t206x.jpg">

There are quite a few cards from the T-206 set that exhibit the same printing anomaly as the card you have posted - it is seen on a somewhat regular basis.<br /><br />The closest thing to an uncut sheet is the Honus Wagner Proof Strip of Five that has been sold a few times over the past decade or two. There are a lot of theories and conjecture as to how the T-206 may or may not have been printed. Obviously examples such as yours are compelling of a certain style of printing. Posted By: <b>Dave</b><p>Most T206 cards that are mis-cut with an additional title on the top are like yours, where the names match. But there are examples where the top name is different than the bottom and the picture. This means that the sheets weren't just of one player, but mixed players from top to bottom of the sheet.

As a related ancillary - there are generally premiums placed on any T-206 cards that are 'oversized' - which often may be the case with T-206s with names on top and bottom.<br /><br />~ms

Posted By: <b>Reid Bruce</b><p>It seems possible that the same card was printed in vertical rows and that there were different cards horizontally. In other words, the printing sheets may have had five, ten or more different cards on them (side by side) and each card was duplicated vertically. (I'm no printing expert, but couldn't you have a printing plate with each card side by side and then feed through a sheet progressively...almost like an old Xerox mimeograph machine, just with one long sheet of paper. This may explain diamond cuts on cards. In other words, the cards might not have been "miscut" but instead certain rows of printed cards might have been misprinted on the sheets by misfeeding the paper into the machine so that when the sheets were cut, the misprinted and misfed cards appeared to have been miscut.) Just pure dreaming and speculation...
