The back and stock resemble the Quaker Oats card. Given that the book above has a Quaker Oats ad on the back and a matching pose photo, I wonder if this was from something Quaker Oats ad-related in Canada?
This photo had previously bugged me for years and I put it away for a while only to have it bug me again now. I just would love to know where the heck it came from - book cover, ad, poster, premium... |

Hey Treasure, can you post a larger version of that picture? I (along with everyone else viewing this thread, I'm sure) really want to figure out what in heck is going on with that disappearing extremity.

No problem, I used the photo inserter from this site. Please see the direct photo below to see if it comes out any better...I never noticed the guy's leg before this discussion haha https://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/2/0/...77889570_o.jpg https://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/2/0/...77889580_o.jpg |
To add, here is a better photo of the Ruth as well...

Sorry, Treasure, but you know what happens when you give a dog a bone. Hopefully we can end 'leg-gate' and return to our original programming. :)
The pic is coming across small, but I highlighted in red what I believe to be his vanishing leg. It's sorta going back under his chair, in a 'normal' sitting position. I think it is an optical illusion where his 'stub' is actually his knee (and area below it) kinda pointed at the viewer. The awkward look of his left hand adds a little credence to that theory. Heck, I could be completely wrong, but that's how I am seeing it. Attachment 301333 |

Hey, your enlarged pic actually points out more clearly what I was trying to say. The most important feature to examine is the dark section of his left sock. If you follow the straight line of the seat bottom, you'll see it dips down and is curved (which is actually his dark sock crossing in front of it). That's because his lower leg is 'pointed' toward the back of his chair (and presumably resting on the cross bar). The guy directly behind him has white pants and shoes on. Those are easily distinguishable from the player in question's leg/shoe and they intersect just a tad. (The other players in back don't come into play.)
Pic 1: Normal. Pic 2: Dark part of sock colored red. Pic 3: Dark part of sock colored red, and corresponding parts of shoes, socks and whatnot are indicated. Attachment 301550Attachment 301551Attachment 301552 I think the main reason for the dilemma here is the dirt, scuffs, etc., to the right of his left hand and arm. That shadowing distorts the fact his knee is up, pointing out towards the viewer. |
The player on the far right, last row, looks like Charlie Sheen.
Now I know how he gets all his vintage memorabilia... |
