Purchased this at Giants Stadium about 30 years ago.
Have never seen one for sale since.
Anybody have any information?
Thanks in advance.

Thirty years ago was a really bad time to buy most newly manufactured sports memorabilia. Though I can only find one sale of this exact statue (it was reproduced in 2011)...that sale was only $20.

Rob -
Appreciate the reply.
Your information was as expected - did not think it was of any real value.
I have always liked the way the figure was designed and the "Vintage Silver Look". Not a big fan of the base.
Put it on a black wood base and then it would resemble a Spalding. :D
Thanks,
Jerry

Its funny how 30 years ago sounds so much older when talking about a baseball collective versus purchased in 1990 or so.. 1990 seems like 10 years ago.....where has the time gone..

It's always a double take for me too. "30 years old WOW...oh wait".

Even when I hear "50 years old"...my mind initially goes to the 40s or 50s. Hard to believe 1970 is about to become 50 years old.

anyway....the 1950s were 30 years from the 1980s....right now we are about FORTY years (40) from 1980...

Yup... we are the old farts now.

And please... nobody here project how fast the next 30 years will go by. Way too depressing.

My Mays figurine is certainly not a "high value" collectable but I am very glad that my post sparked some good responses from fellow collectors.
Time does fly - it is a great ride and baseball memorabilia (searching, the hunt and obtaining the wanted items) is a very exciting part of it.
Al - Mark keep those excellent collections going.

So true, Jerry.... and thanks!

Few people have as good an eye for quality as you, and your collection really inspired me. We had a few hard-fought negotiations, but all of them turned out well for us both (IMHO!)

Many thanks to net54 for enabling these great friendships to take place!

Mark -
Thanks for the kind words and I agree - The negotiations were in good spirit.
