Altered 39 Play Ball Ted Williams Rookie

For a long time I thought I could handle it not having borders. After several months I decided I could not take it any more.:)

I bought a beater 39 PB Julius Solters that had very good centering for the donor card.

I know it is a very amateur looking job but I like it. It was not done with the intent to fool anybody and I have no plans of mixing up paste and filling in the seams or recoloring anything. I personally think it looks so much better now than before.

So did I just ruin a $125 card?:eek::)

Yes.

You could have just placed it on top and held it in place in a toploader.

Then you would not be able to see the back of the Williams card.:(

The borders are held on with Elmer's Washable School Glue so a 2 minute soak and they will fall off. I am weird not crazy.:D

Ideally you would have waited to purchase a messed-up front Williams with a decent back, and then slipped both in a card saver like egbeachley said. But I guess you still have that option if such a Williams were to pop up with the 2 minute soak as you mention.

Another option would have been to buy an inexpensive reprint and place the trimmed down Williams on top of it in a card sleeve.

Love it. How can you ruin a card that looks like that in the first place?

It's your card and your collection and if it makes you happy that's all that matters. i don't think the value is altered.

Agreed. It certainly didn't gain or lose any value. If you're happier and are planning to keep the card I see no problem

Cool idea. I might try again if I were you and use a box cutter and just cut out the border so you don't have those slits in the border.
