Disgusting

Seller's first listing:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1952-Topps-M...item33859c27f1

Doesn't sell for obvious reasons. Seller re-lists this:

Looks like CAS is fairly easy giving this beauty a 5. Except for the creases... and its fake... and a bad fake at that... and CAS doesn't exist as a real TPG... Other that that I'm all over this beauty!:D

I like his About Me page. It says, My motto is "Buy the card - not the holder" :D

My motto has always been "Buy the fake card - not the fake holder"....:).....

Then again, maybe the grade on this item is simply referring to the condition of the holder, and not the condition of the card....:).....

Love this line from the first listing -

If it were not for the two creases, this card would probably grade an "8"

Yeah..... and if it weren't for the first million, I'd be a millionaire

Reported to Ebay as fraudulent.

Here's the line that made me angry:
I can only trust that the professionals at C.A.S. have done their job authenticating and grading this card.
As a broker of graded sportscards, our responsibility is the accurate description and delivery of the item for sale, not to guarantee how a card will be assessed by another grading company. Any issue a buyer has with a cards 3rd party grade should be addressed with the company that graded the card, not us.

Translation: I know the card is fraud, so when you discover that, contact the non-existent C.A.S. with your problem, not me.

The listing states, "no returns on professionally graded cards". Since this card is amateurly graded, I'd think it could be returned.

David---I think you are right. Go ahead and buy it and then make him take it back to teach him a lesson :)

Hey. At least he's not referring to it a "movie prop" anymore..

David W 09-24-2013 02:58 PM

Could someone make up some "dummy" accounts and shill the thing up to $10K and then not pay?

I think there used to be someone with ebay ID IBUYFAKECARDS or something close to that who did that for a while, maybe it was on the PSA board

ALR-bishop 09-24-2013 03:55 PM

Movie Prop

Topps has done one movie prop card for the movie the Sluggers wife. It pictures Danny Noonan as Darryl Palmer in card 800 in the 1984 Topps set

Seller just revised the listing. They've purchased high dollar vintage cards in PSA holders....Perhaps Cobb/Edwards can work a deal on this gem and throw it in the Wagner sale as a bonus :D

Bestdj777 09-24-2013 08:57 PM

The seller got in touch with me regarding the listing and was very cordial. He notified me that he just heard from someone at an auction house that it was fake (assuming it was a board member) and revised his description accordingly. Glad to see that he did the right thing.

KCRfan1 09-24-2013 09:24 PM

Looks like the ( fake ) creases are painted on the card as well.

Who was it that said there is a sucker born every day? Almost always, in life, if it's too good to be true....it is too good to be true :).

nsaddict 09-25-2013 02:18 PM

I did find out about the grading company CAS...(counterfeit as shit) :D

$870 with 4 hours left. And, the description indicates that it is likely a reprint.

Yeah, but look at the bidders feedback. Two ZERO feedback bidders going after it. Can anybody say "SHILL"?

Edited to add: On the other hand, it could be a couple of guys having fun with the seller. I hope that is the case and they blast him with a NEGATIVE!

Bestdj777 09-30-2013 09:32 PM

$2250 for an obvious fake, and most of the bidders had zero feedback. I am looking forward to seeing the feedback on this one, or it relisted as it was likely shill or joke bidders.
