Ebay listings now show number of watchers

Just noticed that when I view an ebay item, the numbers of watchers is shown. Anybody seeing that? I think that is more of an advantage to buyers than it would be to sellers. For example if a buyer sees there are 50 watchers, then he may just not bid because of the probable competition.

kmac32 09-21-2012 11:33 AM

See it on the selling side but watchers do not equal bidders. Had an item recently go through 3 cycles with lots of watchers and finally sold for $10.00.

glchen 09-21-2012 11:59 AM

I don't see this except for items that I am selling.

scooter729 09-21-2012 12:05 PM

I don't see it within eBay, but there are a couple of sites which will show you this info if you wanted.

http://www.watchcount.com/

If you enter an eBay item number here (I believe the item has to have at least 1 bid on it for it to work), the number of watchers will be displayed.

smokelessjoe 09-21-2012 12:16 PM

Oh mine is definitely showing the number of watchers from the bidders angle. As soon as I click on an item up for sale it shows me how many watchers. This just started today? I think the reason some of you are not seeing it is because the item does not have any watchers yet.

peterose4hof 09-21-2012 12:28 PM

I don't see it either. Where on the item page does it show that?

smokelessjoe 09-21-2012 12:45 PM

Take a look at this auction... It is telling me there are three watchers - about an inch below the 7.99 bid price. I am not selling this item nor do I know who is.

jp1216 09-21-2012 12:49 PM

I'm logged in, but don't see the number of watchers...? Weird..

batsballsbases 09-21-2012 12:53 PM

?

Shawn,

t206hound 09-21-2012 12:56 PM

Post a screen shot please

not seeing it... please post a screen shot...

scooter729 09-21-2012 12:56 PM

eBay probably randomly picked some users to do a beta test of the new functionality, to show the number of watchers. I definitely don't see it either.

bunst 09-21-2012 01:05 PM

Wonder why only some can see it? The format that you see when looking at the item (as a buyer) is totally different then it was yesterday, and includes the number of watchers.

Ummm... Crazy.. I do not think I like it... See below!

rainier2004 09-21-2012 01:07 PM

I dont see it either, bit I tend to miss things......

otismalibu 09-21-2012 01:12 PM

Every so often, when I log into eBay, I get a little different format. I found that if I delete cookies, it goes back to the older style. If there's no Opt Out option, that seems to work.

batsballsbases 09-21-2012 01:16 PM

Shawn,
You must be in an ebay test I see everything you posted in the image except where it says 3 watchers.

smokelessjoe 09-21-2012 01:21 PM

That is crazy... Also, when I scroll down the listing a "top bar"? thingy scrolls down with me. Giving me the option to quickly click on "description" "shipping and payments" etc.

smokelessjoe 09-21-2012 01:36 PM

Oh I just realized... It has a big "See What Other People Are Watching" at the bottom of the page. Several thumb nail images of auctions with watchers...

yanks12025 09-21-2012 01:48 PM

I see it on my screen(on my phone and not logged in).

Bocabirdman 09-21-2012 01:49 PM

I am at work without access to eBay. Is it possible this change happened today and those of you that can not see it were logged in to eBay before the change was made? I wonder if you closed your browser and reopened it or maybe logged off and restarted your PC if that would update you to this new format change.:)

dlfallen 09-21-2012 05:47 PM

I just tried it with my tablet using the Dolphin browser. I do see the number of watchers.

kmac32 09-21-2012 06:18 PM

Downloaded Dolphin and still don't see it.

Ronnie73 09-21-2012 06:28 PM

I have two different computers side by side and one shows it and the other doesn't.

If this change to ebay sticks, the watchcount.com site will soon be obsolete.

This has happened to me twice this week. About every other day I get on Ebay & there is a new format.

Excellent! LMAO!

Harford20 09-22-2012 07:03 AM

I had the new format, with the number of watchers listed, on my account when viewed from work, but the old format remains on my home computer. Could this be an operating system change that eBay has a new format with a given operating system?

rnisly 09-23-2012 06:50 PM

internet explorer

The new format is when using internet explorer browser.

Mozilla firefox still has the old format.

This is great. Now they just need to add a box below that shows how many offline offers the seller has received.
