I'd love to track down a Mays spotted tie. Any chance you have an extra laying around, hahaha.

Great card!!

Thanks Leon and Derek!

Keep us posted on that Leon, I'm curious what they do with those you got!

Thanks, Val, Ed, Leon, and Bryan!

Wanted to mention Ed -- great T217 pickup...beautiful card! (Gotta love those T217s...). You and I chase the same cards all the time. :) (Although I was not the underbidder on your Howard.)

And Leon, that cabinet is great, for sure!

Cheers,
Steve

http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/204295...OSLINS_NEW.JPG

....Just picked up the Worch error "Gaslin"...The grader's specs guys and label writer, instead of putting the correct name and spelling in parentheses up top under the Manufacturer ID, just went by what was on the card sooooooo it's in the registry and VCP and inventories and pop reports and checklists as Leon "Goose" " Gaslin".... I love this hobby....

Hi all! Fairly new to this site and glad to be part of the community. I’ve been working on my Red Sox rookie PC lately and since I can’t seem to ever do anything in moderation, I went a little crazy the last few weeks. With REA ending and some well time eBay bucks bonuses, I’ve been able to cross off a few big ones from my hit list. Thanks for looking!

First, I snagged this one off of COMC. Not a high grade, but a decent pickup for COMC:

http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/...psziskzyxd.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/...psyxptgk5l.jpg

This is the first card I’ve ever won on REA. Highest graded and a real stunner:

http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/...pskyiaos8i.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/...pshpo9iofu.jpg

Was psyched to pick this up since I blew a chance to get a raw one on here. Only one graded higher and I love the look of this version.

http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/...pslb467kjf.jpghttp://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/...pscwna9qgy.jpg

Now for the big boy. I’ve never spent this much on a card AND still felt like I got a steal. This card is amazing – scan can’t do it justice. Only 2 PSA 10’s in existence.

Jeff: There's a fairly common postcard of the Red Sox spring training facility in Florida (I have a copy somewhere in the dungeon) that depicts the hotel in the background of your photo so that might pin it down a little further.

Wow...there cannot be very many complete sets in existence !
Even T211 type cards aren't that easy, but the whole set is a big accomplishment.

If lifetime passes interest you at all, here's a link to a few others, mostly MLB lifetime passes as well as letters from Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, and Fred Clarke to Ford Frick thanking him for the passes.

Lifetime pass page link here.

While at the site you can search for your favorite HoFer as all are there. There's also a couple hundred non-HoFers too.

Thanks, Ed and Brian!

I agree that a complete set is tough, but I took a shortcut by buying the near-set in REA spring 2015. I've been adding, trading, and upgrading since then...trying to complete the set without marks, major paper loss, or trimming.

It's been a lot of fun, and I've met several nice people in the process!

Thanks Leon! The pose I drooled over as a kid in a baseball card shop in Joplin Missouri back in the 90's. It was in one of those thick 1" screw down holders which made it standout even more. Glad to pick up a very presentable example!

Leon 05-22-2017 06:35 AM

I think I had my "aha" moment the first time I saw one too. It was like,
ok, this is what an old baseball card should look like (to me). My first one came from a mimeograph from Gar Miller but when I got it Babe had a wrinkle right through his face which couldn't be seen from the paper picture I had seen.

Yup, would love it, but it's a little steep for me price wise. The mentioned Mile High lot of all 3 signed Dimaggios sold for like $1800 back in I think 2015. The Joe D was really nice and the Vince and Dom were the exact ones I ended up with. Don't think that pricing still applies today!
