W572 "Metro Star" cards??

Posted By: fkw
Anyone ever seen this before?

This W572 card is so miscut that there is print at the top, but it is not part of another card, it says "Metro Star"

Could it be the yet unknown name of the company that issued these strips???

W572 "Metro Star" cards??

Posted By: Paul
That card looks much more black and white to me than other W572s. Don't they usually have a little toning to them, maybe sepia?

W572 "Metro Star" cards??

Posted By: Zach Rice
I ended up binning it. The price was obviously higher than a normal W572 should have been but I thought it having metro star at the top was very neat. Even if it turns out to be nothing special, I haven't really sesearched it yet, I have never owned a W572 before so it will be a new type card for me.

W572 "Metro Star" cards??

Posted By: David Smith
If so, then "Metro Star" could refer to the movie company and not the maker of the cards. I have a bunch of actor and actress felts (like BF2's) which have the person's name and the movie company they work for.

David

W572 "Metro Star" cards??

Posted By: davidcycleback
That is what I was thinking. Perhaps there were same type non-sport cards, and baseballer and movie stars were on the same uncut sheet. Metro = MGM movie studio.

W572 "Metro Star" cards??

Posted By: Zach Rice
I do think the card is much more obviously black and white than the average W572. Most of the time they are toned even if just a little bit. I guess it could be a result of age and this one was kept away safe from anything that could harm it.

W572 "Metro Star" cards??

Posted By: Zach Rice
I have never heard of a W572 actor or actress card, but whoever made them also produced boxing cards which came in a 10 card strip mixed with baseball cards. Has anyone seen or owned a card of an actor or actress that shares the similar time period of W572s and looks similar, name in script, black and white, and numbered ?

Edited to ad I can not find O'Farrell in my W572 checklist, then again my SCD is outdated by a few years, but can anyone help me who has the 2006 book and see if he is in the checklist ? Thanks in advance.
