Help identifying Press Photos 1920's

2 Attachment(s)
I just bought some Press Photos that I believe are Type 1 but need some help confirming. There are a number from the first Opening Day at Yankee Stadium in 1923 and a number of Babe Ruth. Can anyone tell me for sure if these are what are called Type 1. I have been dealing in antique photos for many years and these certainly look to me to be original images of the period but I just don't exactly know the terminology for Baseball Press Photos. Thanks, Tom

Please!!

We have six other 1921 to 1923 Press Photos featuring Babe Ruth as well as about 25 more from the same period (including one of Ty Cobb) - can anyone help us to definitively identify these Images as "Type 1".

Could really use some help!!

Walnutts,
Listen to Rhys, he is one of the most qualified at reading press photos. It is a great opportunity for you.

There are scans posted above - I can take images of the others tomorrow but the other images are identical in format to the ones posted with attached text slips and the same type of back stamps.

Rhys - my research uncovered the 1918 Ruth Press Photo that you sold and although these Images are a few years later, I was wondering if it would be worth while to have them looked at by someone like PSA/DNA to get some authentication as Type 1.

Wow, some incredible images. Don't see anything suspicious in what you've posted so far.

You can send them to PSA and they will authenticate them and do a good job. It will cost you money though. I can look at them and give you the information you are looking for free of charge, but if you want to resell them and send them to PSA, that is not going to be a bad decision, its up to you. I can tell you from a brief look that the team photo would be a type 3 and the rest appear to be type 1 so far. I mention scans because you said you had many others.

Wow! Great images

Most look like "Type 1" photos with exception of the double image (Ruth and stadium) which PSA will certify as a "Type 3". Essentially any image like that will get a "type 3" because you could not really splice glass plate negatives at that time so you had to take photos of photos to make composites until acetate negatives came out in the 1930's.
