Show the one autograph you really wish you hadn't sold/traded...

I recently was presented with an opportunity to "buy back" some really great autographs that I have sold over the years (I am still kicking it around). It made me think, what autograph did I really like that if I could do over again I wouldn't have sold. For me, it is probably this 1929 Ruth ball. It had a nice inscription to a Junior League on the south panel, a clear as day Ruth all alone on the sweespot, and a couple others on the back panel (Lazzeri, etc). I bought it from the original owners family, who told me that it had been kept in a sock for the last 80 plus years. If you still have photos, show an autograph that if you could go back in time you wish you hadn't parted with.

That's a nice Ruth...great story and provenance too.

T206

If you go to T206 collector.com you can see the signed T206 of Fred Clarke that I traded to Paul. I traded the signed T206 Cy Young too but autograph was very light. Never see those again.

This Grover Cleveland Alexander signed baseball. It was also signed by Babe Didrickson and a minor leaguer from a House of David Team. I was able to buy a Honus Wagner signed card and what might be the earliest example of Walter Johnson's signature with the money I made. But man, what a ball.

I had 4 baseballs I kinda' wish I hadn't got rid of, but the prices I realized for the price I paid made it a no-brainer. Sold this one w/ Lelands a few yrs back:

Yeah, when Josh saw it he said it was one of the best FDR's he'd ever seen!

Here's another I sold, mainly because it was traced over, but it had the same impeccable provenance and was deemed as definitely authentic despite the obvious trace.

It is pretty unique w/ the complete Washington Starting Lineup & Mgr Johnson & Babe & Lou & was proven to be a beginning of the season ball from 1930 when the Yankees made their 1st visit to Washington. 6 HOFer's on it.

Wish I had it back as it didn't go for a big price!

You can see them any time you want -- you just can't have them back again!

:D

For whatever it's worth, they are prized and cherished by this collector. And if you muster a signed T206 of Ty Cobb, I'll trade 'em back to you.

ScottR81 09-26-2013 02:44 PM

For the price I paid I will never find it for that again :(
