The bottom two corners are pretty rough, but the centering is decent and the color looks beautiful. Have at it. I have thick skin so appreciate any/all feedback. It will end up in an SGC slab asap.

Also, any thoughts on PWCC as a seller would be greatly appreciated too. They seem fantastic -- quite the opposite of battlefield...

Wow. First post and you already touched two of the hottest button issues on the board. This should be good.

I'm not a big fan of the 33 Gehrig, much preferring the 34s, but you would not be able to get a good 34 for $1150

I have had great success with this seller - making a purchase just last weekend. I have found that I can usually get a good deal when the seller uses auction vs BIN and it has been true for me through this particular seller.

Good Luck!

Get the '34 yellow background if you're targeting a Gehrig Goudey. IMHO, '34 Gehrig is one of the most gorgeous and stunningly amazing cards ever produced. Right behind my all time favorite '53 BC Reese

But, in regards to your post, PWCC is a great seller, but, the items they sell tend to go a little above market value (depending on the item), but you will never have any issues dealing with the or Probstein.

I think you paid what it's worth if graded a 2 to 4. However now you have to hope it's not trimmed or otherwise tampered with. I would have bought a slabbed one for about the same price.

Nice card for sure. Comparing it to a 4, I think you're looking at a 3 or 3.5. Bottom line is if you are happy, then that's all that really matters. Congrats on a great card!

Oh, and welcome to the board!

The 34 Goudey yellow background is my favorite Gehrig. The write up on the back is ironic as well.

Enjoy your card. It is always a thrill to pick up a Gehrig card! :)

This one has a happy ending, gang. Now the 55 Mays that I attempted a crossover on is a story for another time/forum.

Also, to clarify, this purchase wasn't for profit ("gamble" was the wrong term in the title). We lost an aunt to ALS many years ago, so this card has a special place in our hearts and goes into the permanent collection.

Thanks everyone for your views on this. And, clearly, a lot of folks love the 34 yellow background. Maybe someday...

Great card, Jason. Looks even better graded! Gehrig was a true hero.

Nice card, congrats! You probably saved a few hundred bucks by taking a chance and buying it raw. Nicely done.

Beautiful card! Congrats my friend!

I've always been a fan of that card myself, and prefer it to the yellow 34. Personally I think it's a better looking card. Not trying to start a debate but I'm curious as to why everyone else seems to prefer the 34.

That is a great pickup!! Nice card. I love the way the SGC Slabs make a card POP!
