Well, I would take it over the Brady rookie :)

iwantitiwinit 02-07-2018 04:34 PM

No comment on the price but that is a sharp looking card.

pherbener 02-07-2018 04:57 PM

Beautiful card!!

Brian Van Horn 02-07-2018 05:03 PM

I like this one, but the price is optimistic:

Me too but probably $65,000 too high though!

mechanicalman 02-07-2018 05:17 PM

Shipping cost is a deal breaker.

Jim65 02-07-2018 05:26 PM

He needs to change the amount he is charging for sales tax, as of January 1st its now 6.625%not 6.875%

Touch'EmAll 02-07-2018 05:34 PM

Wow! even has nice fat full boarders, unlike many. (wipes drool from keyboard)

What a minute! A state tax went down?!

Glad I'm sitting down.

Good point. If the card sells for $250,000 then that's an extra $625 the buyer is paying.

Because if you buy a $250k card, you are CERTAINLY worried about $625.

Yeah, lots of room to trim to take it to an even higher grade...

Doesn't that top right "bat ear" look a bit pointy???

Anyone willing to trim an 8.5 to try to get a 9 or 10 is a lot more brave than I am.

joshuanip 02-08-2018 05:55 PM

sorry for going there, but it probably has better return potential than the 4 years of college tuition...

clydepepper 02-08-2018 08:09 PM

problstein is definitely dead to me.

I thought everyone knew that Mathewson was a Vulcan?

:)

Rick has no added no description with lots of adjectives - This one pretty much speaks for itself...killer

x2drich2000 02-09-2018 06:30 AM

Am I the only one that would rather have the Texas Tommy over the T206 regardless of the price?

My daughter is doing a dual major science degree at SMU and is in her junior year. Her majors are Statistics and Economics with Financial Applications. I hope you aren't correct. I am investing heavily.

It has to be a better investment than a cool half million into a Tom Brady card...

I am sorry but if you cant tell the top and right boarders are trimmed then we are in serious trouble. Those are way to clean of cuts to have been done by period cutters. There is no rolling or paper pull on either of those boarders. You can also tell the top right corner squares up in the soft corner. Those fiber should have been gone a long time ago. Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me but that is what I see.

T205 GB 02-09-2018 07:56 AM

this is the card I think it was before PSA Graded it. Cleaned up with a hair cut now though.

And, for $75K, you don't even get to see a pic of the back of this card.

Hey Brian, I have this Texas Tommy - WaJo that looks to be in similar condition to the Texas Tommy - Matty. If you are interested, you can have it for the bargain price of $50K plus your W504 of Sam Rice that I covet. :D

I can't leave this hanging curve out there, Val. $50,000 plus the Texas Tommy Johnson and the W504 Rice is yours.:D. Yes, I am sober. No, I am not on drugs. Just optimistic in the Probstein vein.

Brian, your response provided me with a good chuckle!

Not in the correct PSA holder for this theory to be plausible.

Should it be in a Auth Holder?:D

CamaroDMD 02-11-2018 07:34 AM

That is a gorgeous card...too bad it costs about what my four years of grad school cost (before interest...which I'm still paying for). I doubt my wife would let me take about another loan of that size. :D

Same type centering but too had to tell for me.

sgbernard 02-12-2018 08:54 AM

No way it’s the same card. There hasn’t been enough time for a crossover submission at PSA! Haha.

jhs5120 02-12-2018 10:03 AM

According to VCP, this card sold in February 2017 at a Heritage Auction. This is not a recent crossover.

DeanH3 02-12-2018 10:22 AM

I wonder if this was once in David Hall's collection. I've been trying to find some images but can't turn anything up. It's my understanding that many cards that had the Hall collection pedigree on the label have been reholdered to remove the pedigree.

KingFisk 02-12-2018 10:37 AM

To take this thread on a small tangent, today I got an email from Probstein using the PWCC high end designation as a selling point for one of his auctions. How about that.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b668dc3873.jpg

Too soft of corners on the T206 Marty to justify a 8.5 grade in my opinion. No way I get that grade if I sent that in.

HAHAHA. I laughed pretty loud on that one. Good thing the office is pretty empty at this time.:D:D

CMIZ5290 02-14-2018 04:14 PM

The Matty in a PSA 8.5 is an absolute joke, nice card, but way overgraded... Please, maybe a grade of 7, look at the mark below the letter O at the bottom! These high volume sellers and submitters get every benefit of the doubt IMO. Does it mean exchanging kickbacks? You tell me....

npa589 02-15-2018 10:48 AM

There is also what appears to be an indentation or mark in the middle of the Piedmont back. At the very least, it's clearly overgraded.

joshuanip 03-07-2018 12:59 PM

I think the price is set by consignment not Rick. Here was a 1939 playball Ted Williams PSA 7.5 that was reasonably priced given where the 7’s and 8’s are going.
