Ebay Scammer You Might Want To Block!!

I hope this is ok posting in this part of the forum. I just finished up dealing with a shady buyer. I have read about these scams many times in the past and I guess if you sell on Ebay enough it eventually happens to you. I sold this buyer 2 Mantle cards a 54 and 55 Bowman. He receives the cards on April 4th (signature confirmation) and then on April 15th decides that I sent him a 1985 and a 2018 card.

Ebay as they always do sided with the buyer. After multiple calls I was able to at least get refunded on my end. It just sucks that this guy is able to keep to the cards and get refunded as well. Meantime if anyone sees either of these Mantle cards for sale please let me know. This buyer is from the north Texas area.

Sorry this happened to you. As an added kick in the ass, I see you left the buyer + feedback. If you want to send his info via message I'll put it in my files. Or list his ebay ID to help avoid others from getting caught in the same scam!

Yep. Left him positive feedback. I guess part of his scam was to wait 11 days to get the feedback then start the return.

I'll be at the 3 day show in Frisco. If he comes around I'll give him a swift kick in the nuts.

Thank you for outing him. Blocked.

Why isn’t the buyer forced to return the items since he claimed they are not what you sent him? Only then you or eBay can issue him a refund?

There's loopholes on Ebay big enough to drive a semi-truck through, that would preclude a scammer from returning the actual item he was filing a claim about.

They could easily just send back an '85 and '18 and say "See, that's what I received."

Sad deal when so many folks are scamming S O Bs. There's no real way to prevent this stuff. Video of you packing and mailing something might work but it's just not practical.

He did return two cards. 2018 Brian Dozier and a 1985 Topps Kirby Puckett. I have never owned a 2018 baseball card until now.

So he got those two Mantle cards for free?!

I realize you got your money back, but that’s crazy!

so he sent you a modern day autographed card and a puckett rookie? That's odd! He/she could have sent 2 junk commons worth nothing but returned approx $45 worth?

I thought the same thing. Very puzzling the whole thing. Why wait 11 days to return? Maybe he was on vacation and got back then opened the package. The buyer has positive feedback from other sellers. Best I can tell from some sellers he purchased from it was lower cost raw cards. Typical for scammers to build up some positive transactions on the lower level purchasing then execute the scam.

Maybe he thought it was an even trade...........and maybe 10 bucks for the pair in raw condition.

D. Bergin 04-23-2019 12:10 PM

Funny, I can't even look up this guys feedback to check it out. You used to be able to find any Ebay member under "Seller Search", but if they are only strictly buyers and don't have a store, you can't find them unless they bid on one of your auctions....................as far as I can tell.

1952boyntoncollector 04-23-2019 12:16 PM

That Dozier is a limited addition.

Would be funny if the pucket was a psa 10

insidethewrapper 04-23-2019 12:17 PM

Does someone have a list they can post of ebay members who we all should block ? If so, please post or PM. We need to help save us from ebay, they don't care. I'm afraid to sell any valuable cards on there anymore. So easy for anyone to say they didn't receive the item you sent them. Thanks

The Puckett might get a 9. It has a fisheye and a lightly touched corner. So value of a 9 would be 25-30. I don't know squat about the Dozier. It is totally out of my collectoring realm. On the bright side I am a not so proud owner of my first auto card!!!

ullmandds 04-23-2019 12:58 PM

the centering on that puckett is pretty sweet!!!!! Maybe you'll end up ok!!!

chalupacollects 04-23-2019 08:47 PM

Over on the BO forum under member sales feedback area you can find many lists of blocked eBay scammers and other bad types. You can build a nice list quite quickly copying those...
