Baseball Photos with Famous or Infamous People

Posted By: Jerry
I was watching a show about presidents on the History channel and got to thinking about what photos I had seen of presidents and other dignataries Famous and infamous at PRE-WAR baseball games. I remember seeing a panarama of Woodrow Wilson at an opening day game in Washington circa teens or early 20's.. Also the famous photo of FDR throwing out the first pitch from the stands and Gabby Harnett visiting with Al Capone in the stands at Wrigley. These are a few that come to mind, can you think of anymore Baseball pictures with Politicians, Celebrities, Infamous People, etc. Pre-War only.

Has his obituary attached dating the picture to that era.

The ladies are the Wampas Baby Stars of 1927. (A "Wampas Baby Star" was a title that the Western Association of Motion Picture Advertisers gave to Hollywood actresses, perceived as most likely to succeed, yearly, from 1922 through 1934). The Killer Toe-mah-toe hanging on Bam's left arm is Sally Rand, infamous 1933 Chicago World's Fair Fan Dancer. From the looks of things, '27 must have been a good year for Ruth.

Posted By: Tony Andrea
Not quite sure why he exited from Cleveland's dugout instead of the Yankee's on that day in 1948, but
It has also been proven he used Bob Feller's bat as a cane that day to help him walk out to home plate which he already is clearly holding in the picture.
Nat Fein's prized winning snap shot came shortly after this frame was taken which showed Ruth from behind at home plate acknowledging the crowd and shows the current Yankee Players lined up from home to 1st base with their hats off in appreciation for the Bambino.

Posted By: George Altemose
In the picture of Babe Ruth emerging from the Cleveland dugout, he is wearing a Yankee uniform with the interlocking "NY" on the chest. However, during his playing career, the Yankee uniform had pinstripes, but did not have the interlocking "NY." They did have it prior to 1920, before Ruth joined the team, and again after he left, but not during his tenure, from 1920 through 1934. He probably grabbed that one at Sports Authority on his way to the game.
