My Maine Players Collection
2 Attachment(s)
Thank you to everyone who previously gave me GREAT advice for collecting some of the older cards. I picked up this Freddy Parent card for my Maine players collection. I think he played shortstop in the first World Series...
Here is a picture of the rest of my Maine guys so far. I know, most of them aren't pre-war, but I am very excited to get them. I have 4 more (modern) players coming from ebay this week. I think there are ~74 players total, plus 3 or 4 not born here, but who lived here, or played at UMaine. |
Where in Maine are you? My brother Rhys and I did most of our growing up and went to high school and everything in the Bangor area (Orono specifically) in the late 1980's to the mid 1990's.

~30 miles South of Bangor, in Ellsworth.
|
Very cool, we used to play Ellsworth all the time in sports and I've been there hundreds of times. I miss the area quite a bit my family pretty much all moved to the Boise, Idaho area in and around 1998 while I was still in college.

Nice start on you Maine player set Sean. That Carlton card looks a bit off.:D
|
Step away from the Carlton card... >:(

Hi Sean
I was in the Air Force stationed at Dow AFB in Bangor back in the 1960's. Met my wife in Maine (Monhegan Island).
My Grandson recently graduated from Southern Maine Univ. (Portland). http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...RonGrad50x.jpg Here is a T206 ballplayer that you can add to your collection, Irv Young from Columbia Falls. Very cool guys. And yes, Irv Young is on my list!

Depending on how detailed you want to get there's a postcard of Parent and his house in Sanford.
