Oh, yeah, I know the Griffey, Ryan, Bonds, Thomas and Ripken are all available as parts of career retrospective sets. Probably Clemens as well.

That's really true John. I should send one of those ebay sellers a note saying I have the Fleer card but would pay really big buck for a Topps Porcelain
|
Another good day on eBay, three more cards turned up:
20 Tim Salmon 50 Roberto Alomar 450 Darryl Strawberry That brings the total to 154 / 825. |
I wonder how much a whole set would weigh

https://www.ebay.com/itm/29497211846...ampid%3APL_CLK I know absolutely nothing about these R & N China plates, so I will appreciate any information anyone can provide about this Clemente plate, such as: - What year was it produced? - How many Clemente plates were produced? - Were plates produced for any of the other 1958 Topps cards? - Is this Clemente plate worth more than the few bucks I paid for it? Thanks in advance for any helpful info, Val |

I have at least two. Maybe another is hiding somewhere.

I would price it at $50 in my antique mall booth, personally. |

Added one more card to the 1993 list today to bring the total to 157/825:
520 Charlie Hough |
Jason, hopefully like Korczak Ziolkowski you have lined up other family members or a family foundation to continue your work on this set since it seems to be more than a one lifetime endeavor
|
Someone just listed a lot of 17 cards today, which adds #143 Steve Finley to the list, bringing us to 158 total/825.
Kind of annoying that a lot of 17 only turned up one new card. What was with people buying all those Rockies cards? I get that they were new and all, but geez. In any case, if this pace keeps up, it might only take half a lifetime! |
Just found this thread while searching for information on a card that was among the items I inherited from my dad. He had (now I have) the Greg Maddux porcelain card and I very much enjoyed reading through everyone's stories as you hunt to confirm the full set.
I created an account just to say thanks! |
Right on schedule, one more card has hit eBay. #232 Tino Martinez is now listed, complete in original hanger packaging. Oddly, the serial number field on the certificate is filled in as "AP". If that is supposed tobe a number, I cannot decipher it. So I guess AP/1000? Artist Proof?
That brings the total to 159. After updating my blog and TCDB, I noticed these came in at least three different packaging styles, the white pinstriped hanger card, a blue/green hanger card, or small box. All varieties came with the wooden stand and a small slip of paper, I suppose acting as a certificate of authenticity containing the serial number. --- Ah, make that two more, I missed a #83 Reggie Sanders that already sold. That makes 160. |
I've started documenting the 1994 set, now, as well, since someone had added a few to TCDB. I've identified up to 33 cards, so far. I think it was the same deal as 1993, only fewer people new, or cared, about the 1994 offering. I would still like to find some sales or marketing material for these. I've got a few hobby publications from the time period, but the only adds I've ever found were for the Dream Team set or the Ryan set.
