What would this card grade? (54 Bowman Mays)

This card looks really sharp in my hand, but I tend to miss some things. As a result, my two submissions have come back about two grades below where I thought that they would on average.

In my '54 Bowman set, my #65 Mantle and #66 Williams are both 6's (I bought them already slabbed). I would like to get the Mays graded to have the big three cards in holders and I would hope that Mays would be a 6 as well. However, if it comes back a 4, I will be bummed.

Can the experts take a look at the scans and tell me +/- what you think it would grade and if it would be worth getting it put into the slab?

When I look at the image, the corners are much sharper in hand. If you look at the back of the card image, that feels more representative.

Thanks a bunch
Kevin

I would say it's a 5.5-6.5 range.

Nice card. Hard to tell not in hand. Lower right looks a bit touched. My initial reaction was 6.

5

I'd be very surprised if that got less than a 6.

Did you compare it to the other 6's you have?

It all depends on what type of day the grader is having and its not 5:00 on a Friday afternoon

Yes - that is what made me think it could get there. It really pops out of the binder, but then I thought it could be wishful thinking. I would love a 6 for consistency but it sounds like 5 is the overwhelming feedback.

I know that guy well. He seems to get the majority of my submissions...

Might not grade. Did you measure the card?

That comment spooked me so I just went to the set with a ruler and 10 random cards from the set. Unless it was just random unfortunate luck, they were all the same exact size and it measured correctly.

I think I am okay but what is very apparent is that I am not great with the scanner. Thank you for all of the input

That's an EX MT card to me, but PSA might knock it down to a 5 or 5.5 as they are so tough now with corners.

I was just thinking the top of the card looks higher on one end then the other. The front fight looks higher the the front left. The back scan looks the same.

6 but...

I tend to "root" for the higher grade. Looks like a great card to me.

Anyone ever notice that his signature on this card is Willie May. Wonder if a clerk at Bowman signed these images of the signatures.
