Nice Brooklyn Dodgers Piece
 

Got this Saturday at the Glendale show. Drysdale signed, inscribed and addressed it in 1957 from Brooklyn. Postmarked August 30, 1957, Brooklyn NY. Also signed on the front later on. Sorry for the crappy front scan.

Nice piece, I have always loved early career signed items for some reason, I think because they took more time before they were stars to sign and their signature is usually more attractive and in some cases very unestablished (looks like a high school kid signed it and not a superstar who had the signature down to a half second science). Thanks for sharing it.

Completely agree with this assessment. It can be (see Mays, Willie) a fun experience to meet your heroes when they're later in their life and get their robotic autograph but I'd prefer one from their playing career.

My ideal is a career-contemporary PC signed back in the day and mailed. Personally, I prefer getting a postcard that's been mailed when it comes to a signed item. Just adds some character to the story for me. I'd not have purchased it at all if it was just a Drysdale signed McCarthy PC [lots of those around] but seeing the Brooklyn postmark and the way the back of the card was filled in by Drysdale himself cinched the deal for me. I also have a 1951 Al Rosen PC filled in by Rosen and mailed in 1951. I don't mind waiting for the right item to come up. I waited years to find this one:
