T206 Oddity - tape on the printing plate

Scott was nice enough to point out this oddity to me from the ebay pictures (http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=254185). I now have it in hand, and can confirm the tape is on the printing plate and not the card. Card is completely smooth. It's very cool.

Anyone ever seen one of these before or have any wisdom to impart?

I gladly pay you $1,000 if Cobb is on the front. Double that if it is a portrait of that Wagner fellow.

Cool card.

Alas, just Bransfield.

Did they have scotch tape back in the teens?

I just looked and apparently it was invented in 1902

Nice pickup! I have cards that look just like this, but unfortunately the blue tape mark is sticky on mine, and thus just plain old tape and scrapbook residue.

That's an amazing card. What a random pull! Anytime you can add something to the T206 collecting universe that is totally unique in this day and age is a very special moment. Congratulations! Cool AF.
