Thanks - do you ever see an unslabbed authentic card go for under $100? Is that a thing or a fantasy?

yanksfan09 04-15-2017 09:27 AM

Link of search not working I guess...

Search recent sales on ebay of Jeter signature rookie auto (sort price low to high) and you'll see:

the one that went for 51 bucks was fake. But handful of real signature rookies under 100 recently.

Be careful, as those can be forged too have to know what to look for.

chaddurbin 04-15-2017 09:31 AM

jeter cards go for under $100 all the time...i like his early years but if you expand to 1995-98 or the classics there should be 2-3 that pop up every month.

Sivart31 04-15-2017 09:33 AM

Cool - thanks. Yea, I'm not tied down to a Rookie. I'm just trying to get a signed card...not particular. I've got 50 signed cards by hofers, so I'm looking more for what is A. Authentic, and B. Cheap (comparatively).

So is this Rivera bad as well? Is it safe to assume most of the stuff this guy has is fake?

Yea, the signature rookie cards aren't even really rookie cards, they're minor league cards and go for surprisingly cheap many times, and feature very early style Jeter sigs.

I think likely 100% of that guys stuff is garbage. I just reported about 10 of the lots, not that it will likely have any effect. Stay away!

Sivart31 04-15-2017 09:36 AM

Thanks, I appreciate it. I didn't know you could search in that manner. That's really great.

Thanks - my gut said bad on both, but since I am new to this, I wanted to check.

chaddurbin 04-15-2017 01:41 PM

Agreed with the posts above. I've purchased all 3 of these Jeters in the last week for ~ $100/ea.

Not sure how you can tell on the first one? Unless you mean maybe there's some sharpie on there? It's just too much dark on dark, and a dark scan.
Even if it's good why not hold out for something nicer looking?

Agree. From what I can see of the first one it doesn't look bad, but its such a dark sig on a dark card. Hard to see all details and doesn't display well. 2nd one looks like a mess.

chaddurbin 05-12-2017 11:01 AM

jon's seller have sold alot of jeters over the last couple months. always a little nervous when a large quantity of reasonable priced jeters appear on the market, but these appear to be older sigs when jeter racked and they all look good so what do i know. not sure why he needs to sell with different accounts, one at a time, putting weird titles on them like a scammer...just adds to the anxiety.

Quan - totally agree. I probably have ~25 signed Jeter cards, and the 3 I posted above all looked good to me, so I felt very comfortable buying them.
