What's #1 on your football want list?
There was a thread like this years ago but time for an update.
What football card is at the top of your want list right now? jeff |
A signed and slabbed Henry Jordan card at a reasonable price.
|
'57 Starr, or Unitas.. or both.

Any exhibit football card color variations (blue, pink, yellow, green, red). It's like that girl in the white t bird in American Graffiti...I've seen her, but haven't met her...

I am closing in on completing several sets so I have a few #1s:
1957 Topps Starr RC 1957 Topps Hornung RC 1962 Topps Ditka RC 1962 Topps Tarkenton RC Maybe my "Number One" "Number One": 1962 Post #93 Dave Baker Larry |
1962 Topps Ditka RC
Need it along with a few others to complete our set. |
1969 Kelly's Zip Chips Bob Hayes
1969 Kelly's Zip Chips Bob Hayes sticker
1968 American Oil Mr. & Mrs. - the Mr. Dan Reeves left half |
#1 for me is probably a Pottsville Maroons RPPC of Tony Latone ... the only card of a player who SHOULD be in the HOF.

Just getting out of the whole FB thing. I was referred to use Prostein if they not sell. |
Next on my list would be a 1971 Bradshaw PSA 7

I mainly collect vintage baseball. I'm originally from WI and am a big Packer fan, so it would be a Bart Star RC. For a modern card I once saw a Starr, Favre, Rodgers card autographed by all three. That would be right up there too.
I already have a Rodgers, Favre dual auto that's one of my favorite cards. |
1950 bowman Y.A. Tittle rookie card.
john |
Right now mine is a 1950 Bowman Marion Motley. I have other collecting priorities right now, so this will probably wait until 2016.
|
1952 Bowman Large Charley Conerly #63. Down to 10 cards to complete the set.
|
I have some extras I bringing to the national. Pm me which ones you are looking for

Jim Thorpe Olympic card would be mine.
Or a 28 Grange Star Player Candy. Other than that, programs, postcards, ticket stubs and uncut sheets. I'm narrowing my collection down. :) |

The Capital Candy and Cracker one from Sacramento Jeff. I have a scan of one but too lazy to post. I'll email it to you
|
Since I succeeded in getting the Ditka Rookie, now, it is the 1966 Topps football Funny Ring Checklist unmarked.
|
Fairmont Dairy Kansas City Chiefs, any and all!

Joe, I missed that damned Thorpe by less than an hour. |
There's a little bit more to the story Adam...
A guy from California had some PET cigarette cards listed on Ebay and I was interested in several of them. I contacted him directly and we exchanged several emails. I then asked if he had any other similar cards hoping for maybe a few Kopecs... When he said yes and sent me a scan of a Capitol Candy card I asked if he had others. I remember reading about this issue based on the 1912 Olympics years ago and it was speculated that a Jim Thorpe could exist. He then proceeded with sending several scans and the last scan was Jim Thorpe. We then came to an agreement on price for the group but he would only complete the transaction through a BIN on Ebay. You can't imagine how anxious I was thinking someone could hit this BIN before I do once he lists it... Anyways, I ended up with it and I still believe its the only one known to exist. |
Mid-1960s Buffalo Bills matchbooks
I have a Butch Byrd matchbook from 1965--hoping to find other players and years from 1965-1968 (Lincoln, Stratton, Burnett, Kemp).
But I guess my white whales are 65 Topps Namath, and a few toughies from the 1963 Fleer set (Alworth, Buoniconti, Dawson). |

this is the only copy of this card I have (not mine), I think I got this from Adam W. a few years ago. Only one Ive ever seen. Is this yours then? Can you post a scan of yours? Great story! http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...psomyxd7jw.jpg |
My mind is officially blown
|
Yes, that's the one. I have it in an SGC holder now. I'll try and send a scan next time I get it out...
|
Small world! How's that feel, to have me saving a scan of your card for the last four or five years?
Anytime you care to part with that bad boy, just give me a call and name a price. :) |

That's why it's been on the top of my want list for five years! Cool card, and it's not even mine, just like a picture of an old girlfriend you carry around in your wallet, or in this case a girl you just saw a picture of in a magazine.
This should be read to that " Your Beautiful" song. :) |
I would like to acquire a 1977 Topps Mexican Steve Largent, but that card is out of my price range. My number 2 most wanted is a 1952 Bowman Large Charley Conerly for my set.

Brent, I thought you were predominately a boxing collector. Why the sudden interest in football and especially Thorpe?

As a "huge" Largent collector, I can second how tough the Mexi Largent is, especially in like PSA 8 Brent has a really nice football collection. I had no idea he had that Thorpe card, I just had the scan of it saved and its a weekly look for on ebay. Etc. I always thought I got the scan from Adam W., but perhaps Brent himself posted in on LTS? :) |
#1 on my want list? A lot of you already know: 1969 Eskimo pie Dale Livingston/Gino cappelletti. Either version will do in almost any condition.
