I've been thinking about making a start on the t207's, I was going to lob a few bids in last night to get started since it was such a nice offering. I got sidetracked and missed it. That Marquard is beautiful!!! Nice pick-up.

The 1914 CJs were amazing! Congrats to all who won one/some!

I bid pretty strong on a few of them but got blown out. What kept me from going higher was that many of the CJs appeared to be damanged by the SGC inserts. It was more evident on the back. I'm at work and can't get to the site (nor can i see the pickups posted above), but off the top of my head, as an example, #90 Frank Smith. I love that card and would've gone higher, but the sides were dented where the SGC insert pressed against the card. Many of them were like that so it was a little disappointing. The cards have beautiful eye appeal though so all of them would be beautiful additions to my collection. I just didn't go as high because of the edge damage. I probably wouldn't have won any anyway haha.

Did pick up the T207 Hippo Vaughn though!

Yeah, I was wondering what the brown edge was on the backs of some of them.

I would have gone after the Baker, except for the smudge on the front, next to his face - couldn't tell if it was on the card or the holder.

Picked up seven t207s...thought a couple went really high but I felt I got a really good price on others. I ended with Mogridge, Rath, Donnelly, Kirke, Otto Miller, Ryan and Woodburn...

Picked up the T207 Cycle Moriarty and the extremely tough Block.

I finally finished my T207 set with Birmingham and McCarthy. I thought that the prices were very strong overall. Seeing that made me realize again how tough that set is to complete.

Congrats Mark!

I've been collecting an "easy" subset of t207 for a year now. Bought a few from you in fact. The more I learn about t207's, the more impressed I am with those who complete the set.

Even the Recruit class has several tough cards. My subset within the recruit class has 86 cards. I still need 8. The combined price of those 8 in the Goodwin auction was slightly more than the total I've spent on the other 78.

I only bid on the Cicotte, sorta wishing I had bid on a couple more, but they all crept above my self-imposed limit so I actually showed some restraint:(

Brian I thought you got the Donnelly for a great price. I was tempted to bid on him, but If I get that first Broadleaf, I'll probably want more.

I'm glad t207's are getting a glimmer of attention...............

Was able to add the Adams Cycle to my quest for every Broadleaf class back for each player. Have many with three backs and some with the four but it is a chore. Glad to see the Goodwin interest.Attachment 80575

Very nice. Seems like a tough road...what are the specs on this? When did you start? First card? First tough card? Highlights? C'mon man!

marcdelpercio 12-07-2012 09:33 PM

Thanks Steven and Tony,
It is no doubt an extremely challenging set to complete. I have been working on it for close to 10 years. My first card was Walter Johnson, which is maybe the ugliest card in the set...there are other contenders no doubt :) ...and one of the very few major HOF'ers. As far as the toughest card, wow, there are so many. I have tracked the set pretty closely for a decade and there are at least 20-25 cards that I have seen come up for sale individually less than 5 times in that time frame. I'd say that a good half of the set is pretty scarce. There are several great threads on the cards that people find the toughest.

It was very interesting to see nearly an entire set presented individually like this, because you get a pretty good idea of the market on several of these that come up rarely. Most of the prices I thought were very strong, but a few cards that I consider among the toughest didn't sell for nearly as much as I anticipated. I guess it's mostly a matter of a few collectors seriously going for the set and just the coincidence of which of the tough ones they may need at the time and bid for against each other.

Marc, congrats!!! I know how tough those can be.

Last year I completed a set of 200 and this year started a 2nd set from the extras I had. Was able to pick up 6 cards in the Goodwin auction. It was amazing to see the high prices on most of the Broadleaf-class cards.

Some collectors are definitely jumping into T207's this year.
