Posted By: jay behrens
After looking at all his auctions, these are m116s with name erased from the bottom and then typed back in in. Too bad someone also did the same to the names on the t205s. They even managed to put the wrong name on the Hoblitzel card.

Jay

Posted By: Tim Newcomb
Well, clearly the seller doesn't know an M116 Sporting Life from a hole in the ground.

I bought about 35 of these typed-on M116s from the New Jersey dealer Gar Miller a couple of years ago. They have typed-on names of players active in the LATE 1910s, which suggests that an early owner decided he wanted to "update" the set. Most of these names don't match up to the pictures, but this one is in fact Hoblitzell. Who knows why.

In any case, these might be worth $5 apiece or so, as poor condition M116s. Otherwise, no great mystery.

Cheers,

Tim
