Here on fifty-four

as i get older, wasting my time
shuffling cardboard stacks
will you see exactly what i mean to say
read my posts as i’m typing away

then i’ll get bolder, taking a stand
ruffling cardboard hacks
you will see exactly what they mean to say
here on fifty-four

oo oo oo oo oo oo oo oooo
you’ll get older too,
and if you say they’re “turds”
they will banish you

when i am selling on bst
will you place a bid
you may think that all i have is crap
but someone out there will call it “scrap”

soon i’ll be wealthy, selling my hoard
to unsuspecting kids
they will still need me, they will still feed me
here on fifty-four

every summer we can meet at the show
in rosemont, if it’s not too dear
grandchildren on a leash with
with leon, al & lee

send me an email, or a pm
stating point of view,
indicate precisely what you mean to say
i’m sincerely wasting away

give me your answer, fill in a form
yours for evermore
will you still need me, will you still feed me
here on fifty-four

Frank - You are a talented man!

vthobby 07-07-2015 07:33 AM

ok....

I try and try as I sit,
My light not totally lit,
My mind draws a blank,
As I try to crank,
A poem not sounding like sh_ _!

Alas my friend Frank,
It appears he can crank.
Lots of lines to amuse even Castro
For we all wait for sentencing Mastro
As for poems, Frank’s surely ranks.

Sorry Frank, it sounded better in my head! Yours definitely ranks better as my last line alludes to!

Peace, Mike

For the young uns, although there is some similarity between an ode, a poem and lyrics, I would point out that "Here On Fifty-Four" can actually be sung.;)

Frank, I'm proud to say I had Sir Paul on the brain soon after I began to read your post. :D

Frank - I hope that you're coming down from Packer country to The National. I need an autograph guest at my booth - what is your fee?

Frank - I shared your poem with my Sister-in-Law who's a huge Beatles fan and she found it very clever and funny!

Thanks
