Any baseball cards exist of baseball players who also were involved in the Civil War ?

Here is a list of MLB players and managers who served in the Civil War. Whether there were baseball cards of any of them is a different question that I don’t have time to research right now.

Frank Bancroft is one. He was a manager only but he had at least one card, a T204 Ramly.

Deacon White was the oldest player in the League when his OJ card was issued in 1888, he was 17 years old at the close of the Civil War but did not serve. By the time baseball card production exploded in the late 1880s the Civil War Vets were aging well beyond their prime but many of those circa 1887-1889 players had fathers, uncles, etc. who did serve.

Not a card, but autograph of one of the veterans.

Al Barker played in one major league game in 1871. Scott Hastings had a longer career from 1871-1877. Both were Civil War veterans and appear on this 1870 Rockford Forest City's cdv.

Anything with Nicholas Young ?

Abner fired the first shot at Gettysburg but he had nothing to do with baseball.

Doubleday Field is in Cooperstown. Maybe not an official baseball presence but certainly a historical one.

I believe Dave Birdsall is another Civil War veteran. He is bottom left in this photograph.

It is too bad that Seymour Studley didn't have a card made. That name plus an OJ card would be a recipe for collectability.

Awesome team cabinets guys. What a interesting thought. One that never popped up in my own head which is a bit surprising. Thank you for the list. I am looking forward to passing it off to my dad to figure out who served on which side. He lives for civil war history/research. I am hoping for one of them to be a local connection. Could be another Richmond player to get a image of:D

So far we have 7 of the 30 named on a 19th Century "card" etc

I was told that Doug Allison and Frank Bancroft have a 1879 NY Clipper Woodcut. Anyone have either of these to show ? Thanks

I do not have Allison’s 1879 Clipper woodcut, but I have several earlier ones with the Red Stockings.
Hope they come out.

One I used to own before someone who wanted it more than I did saw it. My understanding is this kid was in the civil war....a few years later.
