RIP Bruce Brown

The creator of The Endless Summer. For my money the best surf film ever; though Step Into Liquid is technically more proficient, TES created the genre. If you haven't seen it, well worth a look. It is hokey, silly, fun, innocent and a perfect time capsule of American optimism mid-1960s Cali style, the visual equivalent of The Beach Boys. Just a couple of dudes traveling around the world surfing.

agreed - I remember similar feelings with 1978's "Big Wednesday"- minus the Beach Boys - with Billy Katt, Jan Michael Vincent and Gary Busey (perhaps a premonition of Busey's - in-character - future post-motorcycle accident??? - antics???

saw BW in the local theatre when I was a 13 year-old "surfer" in SoCal, and Gerry Lopez (cameo) was *god* to me...

thanks, Adam, for the memories.
