I also regret selling off a set of E97s and E98s as it has proved difficult and costly to later replace them. My biggest regret, though, was selling an E95 Wagner in exmt about 6 years ago. Dumb!

Posted By: <b>fkw</b><p>As far as value.....<br /><br />T3 Matty EX+/NRMT sold for $2,000....... seen an ad yesterday for a PSA6 that sold for $43,000+ (page 9 in new Old Cardboard Mag). Mine looked just as good if not better.<br /><br />T214 Tinker PSA2 sold for $1,000 (but I picked it up for $350 on eBay misidentified as a T206)<br /><br />A bunch of midgrade T211, T215, T216, D304, D322 cards.... too many to list. Sold a few years back before they all jumped.<br /><br />About 15 V117, 5 V89, 8 Holland Ice Cream cards (including the only known #16), 5 Uncle Jacks, etc. all sold (only a couple years ago) for a fraction of what they go for today.<br /><br />

We all want diversity ,<br />but it can come with regret....Iam still having fun though.

The D304 went for a high grade T206 Cobb - comparable financial value, but a lot easier to find. That D304 will be irreplacable in that condition. Oh well. I know it has a happy home now.<br />JimB

Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>It's kind of a loaded question, since with the market rising at such a rapid pace, in theory anything that anybody ever sold would be a regrettable decision. I've been selling baseball cards for 25 years and I guess I would like them all back. The record price I thought I got in 1987 doesn't look so good today. I bought a low grade Wagner for $8250 in 1986 and auctioned it a year and a half later for 18K. I was ecstatic! Looking back, guess I gave it away. If the market was in a freefall, I doubt anyone would regret selling anything, since all could be bought back more cheaply. And don't think it's impossible that that day won't come.

Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>I actually do not believe the market will freefall. On the other hand, it can't go up forever and it could recede some. No market goes up forever- not art, real estate, gold, diamonds, whatever... so eventually there will be some adjustment. I remember the early 90's was weak- when the Copeland sale took place in 1991, I don't think the market was that strong. I remember the mid-90's market for 19th century wasn't good- I was afraid back then to keep Old Judges in stock because you couldn't give them away. And after 9/11, the market took a hit. But it's been non-stop upwards since then, which is pretty remarkable. But as I like to say "all vacations have to end sometime." But don't ask me to guess when, I haven't a clue.

The 1952 Topps Mantle went from about $500 at the beginning of 1979 to $3K in early 1980 right back to $500 by the fall of 1982. Then these cards stayed stable or slightly upwards until a response to black monday in 1987 helped trigger a major explosion in Topps/Bowman. <br /><br />Rich<br />

Rob (REA) e-mailed me after the auction telling me he would not charge anything if I decided to consign in his next auction, because he felt bad regarding the end result...I have to say...dealing with Rob Lifson was NOT a mistake, he is a class act. But, my timing on selling my collection was only a benefit to the buyer......

The T210 market is so thin, especially when the 3 most active buyers have now neared completion and you and myself are not bidding, the prices have returned to "normal". Posted By: <b>TONY</b><p>I have too many to list but the 2 that hurt the most are a 51 Mantle, I paid $300 for it, sold it for $7200, it sold several times, the last times for $29,500 then I heard it ended up in a PSA 10 holder...ouch !!!<br /><br />then I sold a guy who worked in my office a T-206 mathewson, raw for $3500, mega bucks at the time.....yrs later sent it to PSA, Came back a 9, he sold it in a major auction for around $35k.... this card was from the virginia T-206 find<br /><br />
