E282 Oh Boy Gum Jack Dempsey Variation Discovered

I didn't even notice this variation for months after I acquired the 2nd card because it is pretty subtle and I had both cards stored in different places. When I put them side by side I noticed this:

Same card stock, same apparent age.

Is it possible the 2nd one is an anonymous Arcade or Exhibit card type of the period, using the same image?

Don't know if it's the scanner settings, but it looks like the screening process and tint are slightly different on the two.

Are there other examples from this set without the "Oh Boy Gum Cards" text and the change of font?

Here a same Oh Boy card with different tints. Perhaps there were multiple series/printings of the set that is the source of the variations, much like Exhibit card sets that had subsequent printings with variations.

Scanner settings. The stock and printing are identical on both cards.

My guess is that Goudey decided to use the cards for a different product line so they made a generic version. Of the handful I've seen of the Dempsey, this is the first w/o the Oh Boy advertising.

Any guesses (or confirmation) where Goudey printed these postcard-sized cards? Could they have used ESCO facilities, given the stock and finish resemblance?

I doubt it. The card stock is quite different.
