A recent pick-up that I need help with

I recently won this off of eBay for cheap and have no idea what it is. I took a chance only because it is somewhat odd and different from other baseballs I have seen.

Can anyone determine what this is (playground ball, indoor ball, or just an early baseball) and approximately what year this style was popular???

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Travis

We used to use balls that looked like that when I worked in an old batting cage in the early 80's. The machines, balls and equipment were probably 20-30 years older than that and we had a whole shed full of similar "baseballs" and "softballs". When I asked the boss why they used these instead of read ones, he said they were cheaper, of course.

Yep, it's an indoor or playground baseball.

Thanks!

Thanks guys...

Dan, I thought playground or indoor balls were supposed to be quite a bit bigger than regular balls and this one is pretty much the same size...

Also, when would this ball date to?

There were indoor and playground balls made about the same size as a regulation baseball. The one that you won probably dates to the 1930s.
