Trivia - Who is the most prolific baseball autograph?

To date, who has signed more things than any other ballplayers - reasonably famous?

Examples:
Peter Rose?
Hank Aaron?
Don Larsen?
Ted Williams?
....?

:-)

My guess is Bob Feller...heard several dealers back in the day call him "Dollar Bob"

Feller, Doerr, Killebrew are probably the top 3. The last couple years of his life Musial signed everything put near his table.

I'll add Brooks Robinson to the list
Joe Sewell could get an honorable mention .
These were all men who responded to mail requests as well as benefited from many appearances on the card show circuit .

For modern it has to be the great Henry Owens.

Joe Jackson :D.

My guess is Bobby Doerr, due to his long life, generous signing habits and demand. I was looking for his 1938 Goudey and 1939 Play Ball cards a while ago, and it was easier to find them signed than not.

Pete Rose for sure hasn’t to be up there. Feller signed everything he ever saw.

I had a friend set up at a show way back in the day and he had a sign that said something like 'official baseballs NOT signed by Bob Feller available here'.

We joke that 8 x 10's of Feller and Rose that aren't signed are very valuable.

That being said Bobby Shantz is certainly doing his best to become king at 93
years old he's at EVERY show withing a hundred miles or so and usually signing for free. He's been doing this for years now.

Active-I will go with Pat Neshek.

There is a Cuban player named Pedro Formental who was a legend in Cuba in the 1950’s. He signature is by no means common today but the werid thing is that about half the time a photo or postcard of him shows up for sale it’s signed. The guy must have signed every image of him in Cuba

Nolan Ryan has probably signed everything he's ever appeared on.

Mays, Arron, and Feller

Yastrzemski Sports 01-07-2019 06:58 PM

Rose, Feller, Doerr, Slaughter. Glavine and Sandberg closing in.

Don’t forget Mantle and Ruth. Both signed a ton.

No mention of George Kell in the top 10 yet. It seems he was pretty gracious up to the end of his life signing and sending extras too.

mrmopar 01-07-2019 09:39 PM

Frank Thomas "the original" seems to be another who is pretty common.

Feller is the winner

Back in the early 1980s Feller would actually buy a $35 dollar table at the local shows in Cleveland and sign anything for about $10 as I recall with any inscription you wanted. He was a nice guy but we joked "Cleveland All star game scorecards for sale, $5 each or $4 autographed by Feller....."

itslarry 01-08-2019 06:21 AM

Has anyone bought a Pete Rose blaster?

You may the right.....Ruth signed everything that moved too. His off season barnstorming tours signings would probably be similar to card show signings today. And he signed for free. Part of Christy Walsh marketing of the Babe.
