UFC 214: Cormier vs. Jones 2

I am not a UFC fan - I prefer boxing - but I do like to watch the big, big fights whenever they happen. Now the Cormier/ Jones rematch was supposed to happen many times, but kept getting cancelled due to Jones' legal problems. So I was glad the damn thing finally took place this past Saturday.

***SPOILER ALERT***

I was rooting for DC because I think he is a good man, but after watching some of the first round, I realized that he was going to have big problems with Jones. DC has to be VERY CLOSE to his opponent in order to hurt him, and a guy like Jones, who has very long limbs, is not going to let you get close to him. So the whole time we just saw DC trying to close the gap between them, and Jones striking him every time he did that. Eventually Jones caught him with a nasty kick to the head - not surprised that happened.

Jones at the end of the match said this:

"Brock Lesnar, if you want to know what it feels like to get your a** kicked by a guy who weighs 40 pounds less than you, meet me in the octagon."

Now this would definitely be a great match to see, but I think it won't be any different than what Jones did to DC. In other words, Lesnar, a powerful wrestler, will want to get as close as possible to Jones, and he will probably just keep on striking him every time he does that. One of those strikes will probably end the fight. What do you guys think?

Although DC did land a few hard shots, he was a sitting duck with the distance he kept from Jones. He blocked most of the other head kicks, and at that point before the big kick, the fight was dead even. The true champion did win, since Jones never lost the title to an opponent. I do hope he does face Lesnar. That would be a more exciting fight than the ultra hyped Mayweather/McGregor bout!
