Greatest Hits

I'm interested in looking at the relative frequency of offerings of key cards by the major auction houses, so I'd first like to establish, by surveying the group here, what we collectively feel are the key or quintessential or "most iconic" cards in the hobby.

For my purposes, this should be grade-independent, so while a PSA 10 Ernie Banks rookie may sell for much more than a PSA 1 1952 Topps Mantle, the Topps Mantle is regarded is one of the handful of most iconic cards in the hobby. Likewise, it's not a matter of price or rarity per se. I'm sure the T206 Wagner will make the list, but so too might the Goudey Lajoie ahead of any of the N167 HOFers or California N172s.

So, anyone who would like to participate, please submit your list of 5-10 cards in the replies.

My list:

T206 Wagner
T206 Doyle
E90-1 Jackson
T206 Cobb/Cobb
Baltimore News Ruth
M101-4/5 Ruth
1933 Goudey Ruth #53
"1933" Goudey Lajoie
1952 Topps Mantle

I would add the 1888 Goodwin Champions N162 King Kelly. To me, that is the most iconic pre 1900 card.
