1953-55 spic n span question

I know there are 2 different versions of this card but this is my first time seeing this one. Does this one carry a premium over the other version and what would you estimate the value of this one at? Also was this produced in 1955 then?

Joey:

I've never seen that one before either. Does it have a Spic & Span back?

JoeyFarino 08-29-2015 05:16 PM

The back is blank but the seller has it listed as a spic n span so i wonder if he's wrong

I don't think it is, looks nothing like the others that I have seen. I have only seen the Aaron with the finish of him taking a swing while at bat (see below scan).......

Aaron

Hi Joey, I looked in the Standard Catalog. The front is similar to the 1953-55 Spic and Span cards. The SC says that blank backed cards were believed to have been issued by Wisco gas stations, so my guess is that this card in much scarcer than the Spic and Spans.

Phil, the card that you pictured is from the 1954-56 set and Joeys is from the 1953-55 set.

Thank you rick. I tried searching for it but havent seen any to determine value. The autograph matches his 1955 style but seller wants 700..seems kinda pricey to me

Price

The Standard Catalog shows this card in the Spic and Span version at $600 in NM and $300 in EX. Factor in the autograph and the tougher blank backed version, and $700 may not be too out of line.
