o/t, help with Cassius Clay card

Posted By: steve
I posted on post-war forum link, but nobody knew, so I try here:

The 1965 Lampo Cassius Clay card from Italy - BVG has graded a couple. PSA did not want to answer question over the phone if they would grade it - said send scans. SGC also was unsure if they would grade it or not on phone. Neither company has any listed in their population reports.

I collect the late 60's Panini Clay cards, and want to get the '65 Lampo - only if SGC or PSA would grade it.

What do you folks know about this card as to the reason PSA/SGC may not grade it? Or is it just super rare?
Thanks, steve

Posted By: steve
There is a BVG 8 1965 Lampo Clay also on ebay with asking price of $20,000.00 I have emailed the seller with my questions - hopefully he will reply.

But he claims it is a regular cardstock card with same approx. size and stock thickness as most sportscards. No mention of a magazine cutout - and yes I have seen the magazine cutout Cassius Clay's, this issue does not appear to be such - this Lampo looks like a regular card stock card like the seller claims.

steve

Posted By: Peter_Spaeth
The magazine card referred to, I think, is a 1962 Swedish issue. I forget the name. Steve, if you email me I know a guy who mostly sells Paninis but is very knowledgeable about European issues who may know about the Lampo. I will give you his contact information.

Posted By: Kevin Saucier
Peter,

The Swedish magazine is called Rekord. Small paper cards were issued on the front (and sometimes back) cover from around 1956 - 1962. PSA does grade them....I have the Rocky Marciano and an early Bobby Hull. Usually tough to find. I believe the Clay was in the 1962 issue.

Kevin
