A virtual tour of a framed Deadball Era collection

7 Attachment(s)
I have assembled a collection of Deadball Era cards and memorabilia over the last few years. My focus has been Chief Bender and items that lend themselves to display and I have recently framed my collection in vintage frames from that era. If I can't frame an item and display it, I generally don't collect it. My office walls are nearing the saturation point, so the pace of my acquisitions will necessarily slow and I will transition to more of an aficionado than an active collector.

I have never met any of you personally, and it is unlikely I ever will, but I have vicariously enjoyed many of your collections from afar. This is my effort to return the favor with a virtual tour of my eclectic Deadball collection that is more or less completed. I have posted a few of these in other threads, but never as a collection.

It all started with framing a few T206s.

This is exactly why I love this forum, for awe-inspiring collections like this! Beyond impressed, thanks for sharing

VERY, VERY nice...........I especially like the Walter Johnson Type 1 photograph. One very determined countenance. SWEET!!!!!

Jim, exactly my thoughts. If you can't display them why collect them? I need to learn how to make cases for myself. The flimsy ones that are way overpriced on eBay are way too expensive for the material being used.

Your cases are just as appealing as the cards in them and really play off each other well.

Jim i am more on the memorabilia side not cards but that is impressive. thanks for sharing

Jim- That is just amazing, I don't know if I am more jealous of the cards or the way you have displayed it!

Jim, that is an awesome collection and I would imagine walking into the room with so much history makes it even better. The Bender display is my favorite.

Wow

Impressive collection. The framing alone is time consuming and expensive. Congrats on your style and good taste.

For some reason, I can't see the pictures in this thread, even after a clean install of Chrome. I don't have permission to view attachments?
Edit: weird. When I right click on it, and click view, says I have no permission, and need to log in. I log in, and now I can see everything.

Beautiful collection, BTW. I would love to look at these all day!

T206Jim 02-03-2016 10:34 AM

Thanks for the kind comments on the display, I selected and framed them all myself. That cut the cost considerably and gave me complete creative control.

If anyone is having trouble viewing the photos, you can access them by clicking on my profile and viewing the album.

I remember seeing your Bender display earlier. Probably the coolest display I'd ever seen in terms of the collectibles themselves and the artistry of your work.

Great to see these other items too. If this were all in a room at the HOF, it might well be the best room there.

Now THAT'S the way to enjoy a collection! Thanks for posting -- those look great!
