$50, five cards, go!

Pretend you have no baseball cards at all but what you do have is $50 to spend right now on the 5 cards that will make up your entire collection. Oh, and one more catch. Once you spend the [emoji383], you can never buy another card again! What do you buy? Ignore shipping. My picks [emoji116].https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0d24651c73.jpg

My 5 cards would have to be low grade beaters and I am more than OK with that.:)

1957 Fleer Ted Williams #17
1981 TCMA Wade Boggs
1984 TCMA Roger Clemens
1955 Bowman Eddie Mathews
1989 Fleer Bill Ripken Can you even call yourself a collector without this card?

Had to do some math, but I think that all together these were about $50 give or take a couple of bucks. All card show deals except for the AL Bombers which was an ebay auction. And it's in great shape save for the miscut on the bottom edge.

I looked over my favorite cards and thought about this for a bit, and Trammell and Rickey were my two favorite players growing up and their rookie cards are important to me. I had a Topps binder for my first set collecting as a kid (87 Topps), and it had facsimiles of all sorts of famous 50s cards on the cover, and for whatever reason I was fascinated with the 56 Ashburn. It caused me to look up his biography at the library and learn about him, so that card has always been special to me.

Yaz is a player whom I've admired for years, and while his 67T card is my favorite, the 73 is awesome with the sideburns and was made infamous by The Simpsons when I was young. It's an iconic affordable card of a legend. Finally, Mantle and Kaline are two of the greatest ever, and they reside together with a couple of other legendary sluggers on the AL Bombers card. I was after a nice example of that one for a long time, and won it in an auction for a steal last year.

I looked through listings for an hour. Then I finally figured out it's a trick question ... very clever. Save your time everyone, it's not possible.
