e101 vs. e102

Posted By: Dan Kravitz
Just finished checking out www.caramel-cards.com - Pete Calderon's caramel site (for the 20th time), and he lists that the e102 is harder to find than the e101 cards. I have just the opposite view in terms of scarcity. I just don't see e101's that often. I would even say that in my experience, there is a 4 to 1 ratio on Ebay. I know there are certain cards that will be harder in each set, but as a whole, which set is harder to come by?

e101 vs. e102

Posted By: Dan Kravitz
The real Dan K knows how to use the "shift" key properly. I have found that to be true with Cobb also. I have 3 Cobb e102's and only 1 e101 (thanks fish).
e101 vs. e102

Posted By: Bruce
E101's do seem to show up less frequently than the e102's despite having a larger number in the set. As far as set completion, I cant speak for e101's since I haven't tried for the set, but I think the e102 set is more difficult. Just try and find an e102 Wagner fielding and you will likely agree.

e101 vs. e102

Posted By: barrysloate
Dan- I just went onto the Vintage Card Prices site and our transaction from last night is already recorded with a link to the auction. With my limited computer knowledge, I didn't realize that the software automatically inputs the data- how does it find it (sold an E102 Evers last night on ebay)?

Posted By: Dan Kravitz
Both Cardpricer and VCP have deal with Ebay and I believe that all info is auto sent to each site. Isn't technology great? Thanks again Barry, I will love that card for a very long time.

e101 vs. e102

Posted By: Bobby Binder
Barry & Dan,

Let me correct you there VCP and they "other" are not the same. We are developers for eBay and because of that our computer communicates with eBay 24/7. The software we developed runs every night pulling all new eBay listings that we visually check, make sure is cataloged correctly and approve or ignore then goes into a queue. Once here it sends an email with link to every member that has that card on their Want List if it meets their criteria. Our system will check status of every card in the queue every 15 minutes until the auction has ended. Once ended if the card sells and there are bids and reserve is met then it automatically posts to our site with a link.

The "other" is not a developer and only a market data licensee so they get a xml data sheet sent to eBay. From there with out being able to see the actual scans of the card they have to manually create a price structure to post on site. How they exactly do this is a mystery. I don't know how they account for all the listing errors and failures to list PSA qualifiers in the title. They only get from eBay the title description, number of bids and the final price. A bigger mystery would be how they price raw cards due to the great number of reprints trying to be sold as real. Our system tracks our transaction and we currently have about a 13% rejection rate on eBay auctions that we ignore and do not list in our data.

Hope this clarifies what we do exactly and how we differ with the "other". We are the only real-time price guide with new results that post with in minutes of auctions ending.

e101 vs. e102

Posted By: BcD
you are so exacting!

I love that. Dan K( 1 or 2 ) is correct in my assesment. The E-101s especially in grades of "ex" or better are far easier to find in the E-102 set. Somehow the E-102 is more popular so that may tells us something as more trade than the E-101s!

BcD
