I haven't seen one of these threads in the modern cards forum so thought I'd start one so folks can share new pick ups!

I am pretty sure that Raymond has now been added to the FBI and AtF list of suspected Money launderers

clydepepper 03-10-2019 03:58 PM

I admit it. Try as I might, I always hear a penny or two going through the rinse cycle.

A walk down memory lane.

Peter_Spaeth 03-11-2019 06:01 PM

He should have stirred a lot of drinks, but all he had was a world of talent. His swing was a thing of beauty.

vintagebaseballcardguy 03-11-2019 07:22 PM

That's the truth, Peter. Straw will always be my first sports hero/sports hero heartbreak. I was 10 years old when he broke in and was absolutely mesmerized. As a kid, I was a Dodgers fan, and I was so excited when he signed with them. Of course, it was all downhill from there. It appears that he may be on the right track now. I certainly hope so.

I'll see you and go you one year earlier lol.

Nice card, Peter. I have one with my set that would probably be a 7 or an 8. I have been thinking about picking up a 9 like yours.

LCS pickup. It’s not often anymore that I buy cards from the decade which begat my collecting habit, but have had my eye on this one for a while and today decided to pull the trigger. In an era where there were more than a few disappointing things to come out about major league ball players, Cal was a role model above all others. I’ve always had a huge amount of respect for him.

Nice Griffey cards, Robert. Another one of the few from the 80’s who still maintains a glowing reputation.

Thanks. I also picked-up an '83 Topps Sandberg that was sharper than the one which somehow survived collecting from decades ago. My main man growing up...

Nice Grifffey. A card that's always somewhere on my want list but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I've been trying to avoid Smith/Baines Syndrome by buying cheap RCs of players who now that the rules seem to be changing just might make it.

vintagebaseballcardguy 03-29-2019 07:08 PM

Nice. The McGriff is very high on my list of wants.

Recently picked up this I-Rod Tiffany rookie. The Ichiros, Sabathia & Pujols were buried in shoe boxes that I found and sent in for grading. Fairly disappointed about the PSA 6 Pujols rookie but thankful for the GEM MT 10 Sabathia RC :)

1991 may be a unique year with 6 (I think) HOF rookie cards.
