Reprint - in a PSA case?

Did this person also fake the PSA flip or just crack it out? I am so naive... Sad that someone would go through all of the effort to deceive...

Looks like the card has sold twice this year so far:

You can see the the top edge has "frosting" over the batting helmet. So that edge of the case has been tampered with, so they could remove the card. I cannot tell if the flip has been replaced based on that picture. But now the original card is raw after being cracked out and can be sent back in for a new slab.

We've already talked about this card/seller before.

Also, the $176 sale you're showing is one where the case was already cracked and the reprint card inserted. That's why the price was so low. I have reported that sale to PSA to remove from their Auction Prices Realized and to investigate whether the cert # should remain live in their database.

Apparently he has more and is trying to push them in the NYC area...are they breaking the law or sneaking by by saying they are reprints?

Clemente has the same cert number as the Austin, TX post, but pictures were taken on different flooring... lol

Interesting question. My guess would be this is not illegal as he is telling you exactly what he did. Its certainly not good for the hobby though.

He is selling counterfeit cards and calling them reprints. They are not reprinted and some were put into graded card holders afterwards. I would all but guarantee this is majorly is illegal if caught.

There is probably grounds for PSA to sue to enjoin this dipstick from doing this under what is commonly known as trade dress infringement: creating a product that is similar enough to another's product to cause a "likelihood of confusion" in an ordinary buyer's mind.
