OT: PayPal question

Posted By: John S
Has anyone been having problems with PayPal payments clearing lately? The last four payments that I have sent remain "uncleared" and show the hourglass figure under payment status on eBay. Under payment details on Paypal for each of the transactions a date is given for expected clearing (the earliest of the four is tomorrow...we shall see). The curious thing is that all of the payments have cleared my account. I have been using PayPal almost since its inception and have never had this issue before. Any comments would be appreciated.

Posted By: Jim
John
I am glad it is not just me. There is some type of software glich that changes the information on your credit card. The bug/fault flip-flops numbers and changes the expiration date. You will have to go into paypal and correct it, otherwise your payments will be considered checks and held for 3 or 4 days.

I would guess your settings are set for echeck transactions.

Jimmy
Posted By: boxingcardman
I was having the same issue. If you do a lot of paypal transactions, they seem to shunt you into the echeck arrangement rather than allowing you an instant transfer if you use banked funds. By roving around the site enough you will eventually find a screen that says that they implement the echeck thing when you have a lot of transactions due to fraud concerns, but it is not easy to find the explanation.

If it won't let you use a credit card, you should also check your credit card data. I had a problem using my card last week and found that the problem was an expired card. Of course, the site doesn't just tell you that the card is expired--that would be too easy. It just refuses to let you use it.

Posted By: John S
Thanks for the info guys...as with Adam the information for my credit card on file had expired. It would be nice for PayPal to send a message when this occurs.
