Many things on your want list are pipe dreams that don't exist in the universe. At least the original poster is looking for something that actually exists. Your group would do good to deflate a little bit...Your group could contribute so much and we acknowledge ya'll have a vast wealth of knowledge of the hobby. It's a shame that it's always put into a back corner due to your extraordinary ramblings.....regards

I am fully aware of the value of the uncanceled version as I have actually seen one in person. The one that I saw in person actually belonged the the wife of Ivy Andrews. This was in 1990 (a few years before she passed away). She was an extremely nice woman who had a wonderful collection of 1930's yankee items that I have never seen since. I only wonder where her card is now (since there are maybe 3 or so uncanceled samples in existence).<br /><br />At the time (1990), my uncle who owned the sporting goods store that she was displaying her collection in estimated the value of the card at $20,000. Unfortunately, I didn't appreciate the true value and rarity of the card since i was more interested in the new upper deck and leaf cards.<br /><br />Mrs. Andrews did comment to my family how much of a gentleman she considered me to be (I was 15) and she gave me a yankees hat. I still have the hat and value it greatly. Thanks! <br /><br />ps.<br /><br />Bruce, you might have just killed my chances of getting an uncanceled version of this card for $1000! But, I forgive you....

We feel the purpose of the Board<br />is to educate and when someone indicates they want to acquire a card<br />which has a value of $25,000 + for $1000 we respond accordingly.<br /><br />As for America's Toughest Want List... there is not a single item even<br />in the conditions indicated that does not exist.<br /><br />We will continue to pursue the best grade available for each and every<br />card. <br /><br />In fact, from our advertising on Network 54 and the postings on BST<br />we have obtain 22 cards since January 1, 2008. At least 6 were the best<br />known grade...and in three cases we had them graded and they obtained<br />record high grades. Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>This is a fun read.<br /><br />Bruce- perhaps if you feel the need to discuss the rarity of the Ivy Andrews you should just start a thread on the main board, but certainly not on somebody else's BST post.<br /><br />That would be like me responding to one of your America's Toughest Want List posts by saying: "whatever Bruce is willing to pay, I'll go 10% higher." That is interfering with your right to do business. Maybe the poster had some vague hope of getting a good deal on one, but with your response he no longer can. Admittedly he wasn't going to find one, but that's not for me or anyone else to decide.
