New users and approvals for the new board

As of this moment everyone that has registered should be able to login, whether you got a confirmation email or not. Please let me know if you can't.....thanks go to everyone so far for a nice transition.....

Yes, able to log on despite not receiving the confirmation email. Was it a Yahoo specific problem or something more?

Leon 05-01-2009 07:42 AM

Yahoo....I think

I believe it was a yahoo specific problem where the confirmation emails just weren't making it out of our s/w. That being said I think that is the only SNAFU we have had. It looks like we are running fine and the speed is not an issue (knock on wood).

It is a Yahoo specific issue. For the moment (until it is fixed; hopefully today) anyone who registered with a Yahoo email account will not get any messages via the forum - that includes the registration confirmation, and, also, if someone clicks the "Send email" button which sends an email from the forum. I'm leaning on the hosting company pretty hard to fix this ASAP.

Just to follow up on this, our Hosting Provider just emailed to let me know they believe they have resolved this issue. If anyone using a Yahoo account still is not receiving messages through the board, let me know.

I had the same Yahoo problem, which is really a non-issue.

The one thing that continues to malfunction for me is the Chat Link. When I click it, it just says "Connecting" indefinitely. It never connects to anything.

I had this problem last time (with the initial start-up) but it was resolved after a day or two. Is there any way to fix this again?

Other than that, the site is working great and is running fast..... Thanks!

What browser/version are you using? With most Browsers, if you go to the "Help" menu at the top, there is a link to open an "About" page that has that information.

Matt-

It says: Version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_qfe.080814-1242

Not sure what that all means (or how this fixes the Chat link problem), so any advice you can provide is much appreciated... thanks!

Mark - looks like you are using a very old version of Internet Explorer. The issue you are having with the chat is nothing we can 'fix' and I don't recall fixing anything last time either to allow you in. If you have a different computer at work or at home, try that one and assuming it has a newer browser, you should be OK. Internet Explorer is on version 8 right now and you're showing version 6.

I just heard from a Yahoo user that he STILL is not getting emails from the board so I'm going back to the hosting company - will keep you posted...

I have IE 6 at work and can not connect to the chat portion. So you must need to have IE7 or higher to get it to work.

Mark--you should try Mozilla Firefox. Works great and is more stable than IE (just about anything out there is more stable than IE) and a little more secure. It's free to download and setup similar to IE7 so it should be easy to transition. The current version is 3.0.something. Cant remember off the top of my head. If you have any questions, feel free to email me and I'll be glad to help.

Short of installing a more recent browser, you might be able to get away with installing the latest version of Flash from here:
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

you'll need to restart your browser once you install to see if it helps.

I too have IE ver 6 at work and was not able to access Chat. Here at home I use Google Chrome and can access Chat fine.

No problem getting into chat here; using Firefox v. 3.1.10.

As I said, if you are using IE6, try installing the latest Flash software from the link I posted above.

One more update: it turns out Yahoo email IS fixed after all - the person I asked to check couldn't see his SPAM folder but the messages were there.

Doug 05-01-2009 04:16 PM

I'm a yahoo email user and I received two emails through here just now so hopefully that means the problem is fixed.
