1952 Topps PSA 9 question, photos added

Hello. This is my first message to the board. I ve been reading many of the post and have enjoyed it and learned quite a lot.

I have been collecting for about 15 years and Im now starting to collect older cards. I recently sent PSA a lot of 15 Topps 1952 cards. They looked good and most came back as 7 a few 8 and two 9 (OC).

My question is, how bad is it to get a designation of (OC) off center with the 9s.

Look forward to your replies. In case any of you are curious I will write down the cards i sent with the grades I received.

Pesky PSA 7
Loes PSA 7
Easter PSA 5
Kretlow PSA 8
Roberts PSA 7
Slaughter PSA 7
Reynolds PSA 8
Torgensen PSA 7
Jensen PSA 8 (OC)
Mize PSA 6
Northey PSA 7
Stirnweiss PSA 9(OC)
Garagiola PSA 9 (OC)
Dropo PSA 8 (OC)
Coleman PSA 7

Thanks for looking, I look forward to your responce.

From PSA's Web site (not sure how much help this will be):

When the centering of the card falls below the minimum standard for that grade will be designated "OC." PSA determines centering by comparing the measurements of the borders from left to right and top to bottom. The centering is designated as the percent of difference at the most off-center part of the card. A 5% leeway is given to the front centering minimum standards for cards which grade NM 7 or better. For example, a card which meets all of the other requirements for PSA MINT 9 and measures 60/40 off-center on the front automatically meets the PSA front centering standards for MINT 9. If a card meets all of the other requirements for PSA MINT 9 and measures 65/35 off-center on the front, it may be deemed to meet the PSA front centering standards for MINT 9 if the eye appeal of the card is good.

If you were to request "no qualifiers" on your submission forms it is likely that a card that would ordinarily be assigned a 9OC would be knocked down to a straight 7.
If you're comfortable with the "qualifier", the 9 designation speaks to the MINT quality of the card itself less the centering issues (common for the 52T Topps issue as you may well know).
Nice cards.

2 grades

I've heard as a general rule a qualifier knocks a card down 2 full grades, i.e. PSA 8 oc = PSA 6, PSA 7 PD = PSA 5, etc.

I have about another 120 of these raw cards. But most of them are OC and not as nice as these. I bought them of a dealer for $900.
