Looks Like some poor SAP will get burned by this Frankenstein

I hope it isn't anyone here, if so, retract your bid immediately as this is a magazine cut out glued over a 1935 common Goudey.

I informed the seller but he ignored me

but, dan...

how can that be possible?
it says "AUTHENTIC" right on that gai holder!

These things are so bad that GAI should buy them all back when they can. I am truly shocked these things got through. Was GAI at the Philly show? I didn't make it.

I agree Dan. GAI had no right to slab this. Just shameful.

They have every right to be buying these mistakes back though. It looks like legit bidders are on this piece of junk. I hate that ebay doesn't allow us to email and protect people. The seller is obviously unethical.

The flip says Goudy.

What a shame.

The whole set of these had shown up on eBay a few months ago, and was a topic here on 54 then. I think there were 24 cards in total, and none of them met the reserve. Someone here had outed them as cutouts from an old magazine, and suspected that they had been glued to some '35 Goudeys due to the blue borders underneath. I don't think that the backs of the cards had been shown in the scans on the original auctions.

Still, as a '38 Goudey guy, when this one came up I was watching it. I figured nobody would bid, and I'd win it for peanuts, crack it open and see what was what. Unfortunately the bidding had already gotten over $80 when I looked at it last night, so I didn't bid.

I hope the buyer is knowledgeable and had a reason for bidding so high.

When a card is from a popular mainstream set as Goudey, is believed to be unique, and only sells for $94, something is really wrong.
