Auction Houses that sell retail items

I have a bit of a quandry and am looking for the opinion of others obviously more intelligent than I. I have a problem with an online store being on the auction houses website, selling the same exact item that a consignor is selling through their auction. Am I being overly sensitive, or does that seem like ones item will be bid only up to, or below, the same item for sale in their store. Opinions please.

The odds are the straight sale price is so high no rational person would pay that much anyhow.

the last week or two has been very interesting and quite informative at net54 regarding various auction-house policies.

The more I read, the less I trust and respect some of the auction houses. I can't wait to see how the industry changes or shakes-out over the next couple of months/years.

Normally that is the case, and creates the issue. It instantly puts that exact thought into the mind of any potential buyer. Although, in this case I don't believe this auction house prices their items too unrealistically. I would much rather see any auction house that accepts an item for consignment, remove the same item from their online store.
